If there was ever a man who looked like he was some sort of cool hero from an anime movie, it was this Archer guy.

Leo hadn't been near the guy for barely 4 minutes and already he was digging his coat, his armor.. his dual wielding blades and the ability materialize swords out of thin air.. the whole package.

The tan skin and white hair in spite of asian features was a bit off putting though. Leo didn't want to ask in case it sounded offensive, but he wondered what kind of race Archer was. The white hair actually did look like his natural hair color.

Archer however,  did reveal a bit about his past as they snuck into the warehouse.

"You can say I'm not a typical Archer." said the man quietly. "I was a Mage in life.. from a more recent era..  I wasn't a competent mage, but I was a competent fighter at the least.. usually mages who are famous end up as Casters.. but me.. well.. I guess an Archer is suitable.."

"Because what.. you.. throw things?" Leo muttered. "Please is there ACTUALLY an archer that's like.. an actual archer!?"

"Quite a few.. Atalanta.. Billy the Kid might count cause his guns are like the modern crossbow.. Then Ishtar's Boat of Heaven is basically one giant bow.." Archer muttered as he beckoned to Leo to slowly crouch down behind another large oil drum. "And please try to talk quieter.."

"Right.. " Leo said quickly. "My bad. And Ishtar? We ran into her like an hour before you turned up.. kinda smacked us out of the sky by butt to face kamikaze attack.."

"You met Ishtar?" said Archer looking surprised.

Leo explained the situation.

Archer chuckled, shaking his head. "Tohsaka.. no matter what happens we always seem to find each other in some form or the other."

"You know Rin?" Leo asked.

"I was her Servant during the 2004 Fuyuki Grail War, before she merged with Ishtar." said Archer. "Did Chiron ever mention it to you?"

"Uhhhh.. wait.. yeah.. it was in that intro video they made me watch, about how Zeus cursed the Servants.. and that's why they started appearing on their own right?" said Leo. "Wait.. you're one of the Original Seven? Like that Saber chic?"

"Yeah." said Archer.

"I thought the Archer of Fuyuki was like.. killed right?" said Leo.

"I was.. and usually it would take years, perhaps centuries.. before I could be summoned again under the new circumstances.. " said Archer. "But things changed.. the Gates of Death have opened.. and as a result.. monsters and Heroic Spirits that shouldn't exist are flooding the world of the living.."

"The Gates of Death.. wait didn't the weird prophecy thing talk about that being open?" Leo muttered, scratching his head.  "Well anything with the word Death in it and absolutely NO mention of tacos cannot be good."

"It's not, depending on the situation." said Archer. "This situation in particular is the bad scenario. The gates being closed are always a good thing. It keeps the dead where they should be.. dead.  But with the gates open not only can things from the underworld come back... but the monsters who are killed and sent to Tartarus revive faster, almost instantly..  Old enemies that should remain imprisoned like the Titans can walk straight on out..  and also because the Gate is linked to the Throne of Heroes in a unique way, dangerous types of Heroic Spirits can come out.. notably, Alters, the twisted versions of our Spirit Origins created in an Evil Aspect.."

"Yeah.. like that flag chic." said Leo. "Whose she the Alter of?"

Archer frowned. "That one is slightly more complicated.. in any case.. after I help you out here, I think it's best I get you kids to my allies up in San Francisco.. the Hunters of Artemis.. they're currently looking for Saber, but they've reportedly ran into that Alter a few times.. they can offer a few answers."
