- I love the way your eyes light up when someone says, "it might be dangerous."-
Present Day – Mount Thornhill Top Secret Military base, Department of Homeland Security, Indianapolis.
Maybe, if things had been different, if the world was a fairer place and if humans weren't as dumb as they are, Hannah would not have ended up where she did.
Unfortunately for her, the sky wasn't as blue as she hoped and humans were indeed, scared futile creatures. That's why she found herself in the very small obscure cell of an underground secret military base.
You might think she was miserable; sitting on the thin mattress of her metal bed, shivering in her hospital gown, her naked feet pressed against the bare concrete.
On the contrary, the girl was as happy as ever.
Indeed, Hannah was doing just fine. At least there, no one was bothering her, and she could daydream in peace about what the ocean looked like, the true meaning of life, and the people she killed.
The only thing that was bothering her was the heavy golden mask on her head. The very small slits in the mask didn't let her see properly and the inside smelled too metallic for her taste. Furthermore, it was a bit heavy and her neck was starting to cramp.
Still, it wasn't that bad compared to what she had lived through before.
Without any windows to see if it was day or night, time was a very obscure concept for her. The only thing she knew is that she had been there for a while... Maybe a year? Two years?
The girl stretched her legs as far as she could, making her joints crack. Her stomach started to rumble, and she realized she was hungry. That was a good sign! It meant it was almost time to eat and that soon, someone would come to remove her mask and bring her food.
Hanna slowly stood up, feeling a bit dizzy. She took a deep breath and closed her eyes, waiting for the whirling sensation to stop. However, the feeling only became stronger and she fell back on her bed with a whimper, her heavy metallic head smashing against the wall behind her. She felt the familiar ringing in her ears as her eyelids suddenly felt heavy.
She thought that they must have increased her medication again.
They were always changing her drugs, getting some stronger pharmaceuticals every time; stuff to numb her, stuff to calm her, and that other one that made her mind go blank.
After almost 15 years of drugs, pills, and injections, her body was so accustomed to run on medications, she was pretty sure that if her doses were ever given to a normal person, an immediate and brutal death would be the most likely outcome.
So, Hannah stayed there, laying on her mattress, feeling groggy and sleepy, with her eyes stuck to the ceiling.
That's when she heard the noise.
