Madeline's POV
"Hey, Madeline, look at this!" I look over my brother's shoulder at the screen of his laptop.
Jonathan is on a news website of some obscure, little town called Beacon Hills. The headlines read:
BODY FOUND IN WOODS WITH SATANIC CARVINGS IN STOMACH, POLICE COVER UP?
I shrug. "Sounds right up our alley. I'll ask Dad if we can go."
After a long conversation with a lot of me presenting convincing reasons why we should go, and Dad saying no, finally Dad allowed us to go. On one condition: that we get enrolled in the high school there, so we can graduate on time.
I nodded to Jonathan. "Let's start packing." Jonathan closes his laptop as I pull out our respective suitcases. His is red, mine is black.
~~~~~
As we take the two packed suitcases to the car, I notice our reflections. I look a bit goth in black skinny jeans, a white t-shirt, and a black leather jacket, while Jonathan looks like an average guy in a red t-shirt, blue jeans, and a matching black leather jacket.
As we load our things into our red, 1967 Chevrolet Camaro, AKA my Sweetheart, I breath in the crisp autumn air.
I smile at Jonathan as I get seated behind the wheel of my Sweetheart, and he looks at me with confusion. "Why are you looking at me like that?"
I shake my head, still smiling. "It's just good to be back on a job. You know how I hate to sit around."
Jonathan smiled wryly. "Most people would call that A.D.D." I roll my eyes.
"Yeah, yeah. Nobody asked for comments from the peanut gallery." I reprimand my brother teasingly. "Anyhow, we should be in Beacon Hills in two hours or so."
Jonathan nods and motions to the radio. "Are you going to put something on?" I consider my options. "Panic! At The Disco or AC/DC?" I ask, and Jonathan shrugs.
"Rock And Roll Ain't Noise Pollution, it is." I turn it up, and zone out. This is why I love driving.
