Allison's POV
"Allison, come downstairs!" I hear my dad call up to me. Sighing, I hop off my bed and hurry down the stairs.
"What's up? The jambalaya's not going to be ready for a while, I asked Mom a few minutes ago." I freeze when I see two unfamiliar teenagers standing next to my father.
One is a girl, who looks older than me but is probably my age, wearing a knee-length black dress, a black leather jacket, and red heels. The other is a boy, who looks about the same age as the girl, wearing a matching black leather jacket over a white t-shirt and black jeans. The first thought that goes throughout head is "Damn, he's attractive."
I sigh as soon as I think that. They're probably a couple.
Dad gestures to the couple. "This is Madeline and Jonathan Tenkrovi. Their father is an old friend of mine. You played together when you were little, while their father and I were hunting."
My heart leaps. They're not a couple. Maybe I'll have a chance with him. Jonathan.
I realize they're waiting for me to say something, and, flushing with embarrassment, I wave. "Hi. I'm Allison."
I cringe. They already know that. I look like a fool.
Jonathan smiles warmly at me, causing my heart rate to spike. "Hi, Allison. I don't really remember you, but it's nice to see you. Again." I blush.
The girl, Madeline, tucks her shoulder-length caramel hair behind one ear and holds her hand out for me to shake. "I'm Madeline. I don't remember you either, but I can see your father wasn't exaggerating when he said you really blossomed into a beautiful young lady. I'm sure my brother would agree, judging by the starry eyes." Madeline elbows Jonathan teasingly.
I blush again. I'm sure my face must look permanently sunburned. Is she suggesting that Jonathan likes me? I hope she's right.
"They're here investigating the body that was found in the other neck of the woods." Dad explains.
Ah. I understand. The body found in the pack's territory. As migratory hunters, they are allowed to enter pack territory, unlike my father and his hunter buddies.
"I was hoping you'd help them feel welcome at school. They're in your grade, after all, and they'll be here for a while." Dad says pointedly, not that I need to be told to be nice to them. I was new, once, too.
Not that they'll have any trouble getting along at Beacon Hills High. They're both unfairly good-looking, to the point where I'm a little jealous of Madeline and definitely attracted to Jonathan.
"Why don't you go get reacquainted privately in your room? Confer as teenagers do." Dad suggests.
I nod and start back up the stairs. "This way."
