The morning after

I stirred on the bed as the sunlight hit my face. My head was banging, what the hell was wrong with me? Agh. I had a hangover. I dragged myself of the bed a got some aspirin to calm the headache. I laid down and tried to remember what had happened the night before.

They came in bits forming one whole story. I kissed a boy I didn't know. That's ridiculous, i mean who does that  on the first time of going to a night party? Wait. I went to my first night party and had my first kiss. Wheeeeeeee. I am damn excited.
"Jare?" I turned and my elder sister was standing bat my door post. I hope I had  not said that aloud. "Hey. How was your night?" I said putting the brightest smile on my face
"Fine. Until I heard you saying you had your first kiss" she said closing the door and walking to my bed with a devilish smirk on her face and I knew I was done for. I turned to my window, "come on Jare, it is a girl thing you are supposed to tell your sister that you had your first kiss fa" she whined
"Lola, you know it's not possible"
"Come on. Okay tell me about it and I will tell you my crush" now that was one news I won't say no to. I smiled and made her promise before telling her everything from the party till this morning.
"What is his name?
" I dunno" I shrugged, she looked surprised and happy at the same time
"How can you kiss about you don't know?" She whispered
I was about to answer when mummy barged into our room
"Mummy Good morning" I and  Lola said together. She didn't respond instead she stood at the door. She is so dramatic I thought to myself just as she began to talk
"So early this morning there is nothing to do but gossip ba, both of you can't do anything in this house ba?" She said. I looked at Lola and hiding my laughter I stood up and picked my things to fold then Lola burst out laughing. I stood there watching her as she laughed loudly and almost immediately mummy's black flip flops shut her mouth. She stared back at mummy like she had just seen a ghost. I held my breath and waited for the outburst. Then it came and I gently slipped out of my room.

Lola and mum never got along since she divorced dad. Lola thought that mum was at fault and has refused to cooperate with her. It gets very bad when things go sour between them, the whole house becomes gloomy and I have to tiptoe all around in other not to get in the way.

Mum pushed past me and then stopped, she turned and looked at me, I saw the tears in her eyes then I realized that she looked older and stressed. What was wrong with her I was about to ask when she walked into her room and locked the door. I entered the kitchen and took an apple. " Miss Jare, what would you like to take to school?" The maid, Oluchi asked. "School?"
"Yes you will be resuming today" I ran into the parlour and the digital calendar read 16 September. My resumption date. Could today get any worse. All my things had been packed already? Those silly maids.
"Oluchi!" I screamed and she scurried into the parlour
"Why didn't you tell me earlier so that I can arrange my things myself?" I said putting emphasis on the last word
"You told us not to tell you untill the morning of your resumption"
What? When? How? I thought. "When you came back, remember?" She said again. I dismissed her and got my phone and true to it my friends had posted a whole lot of shit about resumption. I hate resumption so much.
