"Do you think...that I can ever be a hero like you?!"

"...Honestly, kid...you can't be a hero without power."

Those words shot through Izuku Midoriya, freezing him. Kaachan said that he couldn't be a hero, and now his own idol had crushed his dreams.

"I need to get going," All Might's deflated form said," and get this villain to the police. Go home kid." He walked over to the door and left Izuku on his own, teetering on the edge of a very dark pit in his heart.

Is he right? Izuku thought. Maybe I should give it up.

In the distance, an explosion erupted from between two alleyways. Izuku lurched towards the door automatically before stopping again.

What's the use? I can't be a hero. All Might said it himself.

But then, a thought occurred to him. Neither of them had said anything about a villain. An anger Izuku didn't know he had suddenly ripped through him.

He turned to the door and ran fast as he could down the stairs and to his house. As he closed the door behind him, Izuku heard his mom, Inko Midoriya, welcome him home, saying that dinner was almost ready.

"I'll be ready in a bit, Mom!" He yelled in response. Running up the stairs, he caught a glimpse of her just before she was out of sight.

She looks...so...happy...

He entered his room and immediately almost retched. His face... his face was EVERYWHERE! All over the walls, tiny versions posing on Izuku's desk and any other flat surface in the room.

Izuku hadn't known that he now hated All Might so much until he saw his room.

He faintly heard his Mom asking him if he was almost done.

he replied correspondingly and went to his closet. He pulled out a large backpack out and began filling it with changes of clothes and things he didn't want to leave behind. Izuku also packed the food stash he had [it could hold him for three weeks if he rationed it] and slipped on a hoodie.

Izuku put his backpack on his bed and got out a sheet of paper and a pencil.

A minute or two later, he went downstairs, everything he needed ready and waiting on his bed.

A half-hour later, Izuku came back up to his room.

Looking around, he decided that he should leave a different message as well as the one he had written on paper. Izuku went up to every poster in the room and ripped and tore them. He then went to the figurines and broke some of them, and knocked the rest haphazardly to the floor.

He slipped onto the window sill and hesitated. He felt like he was forgetting something.

Izuku turned back to his room and went to his desk, opening the drawer and pulling out the stack of his journals. The one Bakugo had burned was at the top. Izuku stuffed them into his backpack with a bunch of pencils.

He walked back to the open window and perched on the edge again. He glanced at the clock. It was 1:26 AM.

Time to go... Goodbye, Mom...
