"Name your prize!" The announcer called to Eve and Paint. "Do you wish to command the armies of the Rogue? A plush life for you and your friends under our protection? The ability to travel to other worlds? Either way, you get freedom. So, what is your final choice?" Eve looked at Paint and Blizzard, who by now had squeezed through the bars and joined them. Eve whispered "Other worlds?" She flew up to the announcer and said to him "My friends and I are going to talk about this a bit."
Eve, Blizzard and Paint walked back to the competitor's door, and them and the select few who survived to this round and talked it over. "Other worlds? What does that mean?" Eve asked them. "Um, I t-think I h-h-heard about a-another world s-somewhere." A small, skinny wolf in the backed perked her ears up. "There's only one other world, but it's supposed to be really cool. Many different animals, not just wolves, live together and are even friends! I've heard that there are dragons too!"
"Wow! That sounds like fun! Does anyone else want to try that? Or is it just me?" Eve asked the group. Two other wolves besides her friends said they wanted the different worlds. The other wolves said they wanted different things though, so they decided to call the announcer to their little circle and tell him what each of them wanted. They did and the announcer smiled. "Okay! I will set you all up and you will be able to do the things you asked for!" he said cheerfully. He flew away and started talking to a group of guards. After a bit of talking and commanding, he flew back with a few guards who escorted groups of wolves through separate doors. Eve, Paint, and Blizzard, along with the two other wolves, twins named Yin and Yang, were lead through a door in the audience stands into the main fortress. They were lead down corridors, past balconies, and through huge rooms, until, finally, they reached a plain-looking wooden door the opened to a torch-lit staircase spiraling downwards. They came out into a white room lined with lab counters and equipment. The guards took five amulets out of cases on the counters and placed one around each wolf's neck. They explained how to use them, and then left. "So, what now?" Yang, one of the twins, asked.
"Maybe we go to the other world?" Yin said. Yin was a pure white raptor wolf with a black spot over her left eye, and Yang was a black raptor wolf with a white spot over his right eye.
"Yeah! Let's do that!" They started to press their paws to the amulets that teleported them, and before Eve and her friends could stop them, they disappeared with a small crack.
"Where did they go?" Paint asked, frantically running around the spot where they had disappeared.
"I guess..." Blizzard replied, "There's only one way to find out." And he pressed the amulet. With another small crack, he disappeared as well.
"Oh great! Now the only sane wolf in this group disappeared. I'm going after him. You coming?" Paint asked.
"Yeah sure," Eve replied, feeling a bit dizzy. They had no idea what was going to happen, and the scientists hadn't mentioned if the amulets had been tested before. For all they knew, they were the first wolves to test them out. For all they knew, they were about to die. Paint started to count down.
"Three,"
Maybe their friends were dead.
"Two,"
Maybe they were about to join them.
"One."
Paint pressed her amulet, and Eve closed her eyes and did so too. She opened them and they immediately started watering as air rushed past. She saw the ground, a large, tree-covered forest dotted with clearings, surrounded by mountains, and a large, cleared-out stone area right below them. They were falling, and her wings weren't working.
