Jellals POV:

It was a starry night with clear skies, me and the rest of Crime Sorciere have been staying in guest rooms at the Mercurius after we were kindly excused from our crimes by the queen. The rooms were quite spacious and had a balcony overlooking Crocus. I was stood on said balcony as I wondered why the queen would be so caring and kind for lawbreakers like us. Suddenly, I hear a voice behind me "Jellal?" I turn my head to see Meredy walking towards me. "Hello, what is it?" I respond as I walk back into the room "The queen invited us to the Grand Ball tomorrow." She said in a sweet and soft tone "Really?" I ask in a slightly shocked manner, I didn't realise she was so fond of us "she's a very kind woman." Meredy nods her head with a smile "Very well, we should get some rest then." I respond as I walk past her on my way to the bed. Meredy leaves to go to her own room.

Timeskip, the next day.

It's the day of the ball, I'm wearing the same white tuxedo I wore the other day. "The ball is quite lively" I thought to myself, I had higher expectations for a ball hosted by the Royal Palace. I thought it'd be much more formal rather than this. There are people laughing, shouting, running around. At first I was quite confused until I noticed one thing that explained it all, there are fairy tail members here. Suddenly I realised the amount of people here from guilds, looking for Erza I walked up to Mirajane. "Ahem, Mirajane Strauss is it?" I asked her as I put my hand out to her, she turned to me and shook my hand "Yes...?" she said in a nervous manner, I assume she wasn't quite aware of who I am. Before I got to introduce myself she suddenly came to the realisation of who I am "Oh! You're Erza's boyfriend, Jellal! You were given amnesty weren't you?" She says with a glass of wine in her hand, obviously quite drunk "Uh, no... we're just friends." I clarify, what kind of nonsense had Erza been telling her guild mates? "But I am looking for Erza, is she here?" I ask Mira. "Nope! She's on a quest right now." Mira responds before a woman with Blonde hair and glasses that I don't recognise comes up behind her and drags her away "EVER!!" Mira screams. I, not knowing what to do, just stands there and watches it go on. I hear them arguing about strength. I feel out of place here, I'm not royalty or rich, but I'm also not loud and party spirited. I just stand around, watching the event go by.
