Chapter 26: Past [Part 2] (Teaser)

Diego Belville's POV:
Daegan had always been a sickly child. His body was very fragile and much smaller than other werewolf children of his age. He was so frequently ill and his body's immune system was so weak that we were forced to keep him confined in his own room most of his childhood. We couldn't let him play with other pups in fear of them hurting him accidentally. In Blood-river most children develop their fighting skills even before they could properly speak and they could be little vicious if they started fighting for some reason. We feared that being the weakest and smallest among them would made our Dae the target of all their viciousness.

Being the rulers made Harriet and I unable be with be with him. Elias was the only person who stayed with Dae all the time, only leaving his side when it's absolutely necessary. Elias chose to be with Dae instead of being with other children of his own age. Elias was the prime example of loving and protective elder brother and for little Dae, Elias was his whole world. Because of Elias, even though he was forced to stay at his room and his small weak body frequently suffered from various illness, little Dae would always wore a smile, bright enough to lit the whole room. At that time, some of our pack members secretly gossip about Daegan being too weak to have an alpha wolf inside him but Harriet and I were perfectly fine with our Dae not being an alpha. Our small family of four was happy and content. But good thing never last forever.
