He had been wandering the forest in the early morning, hearing small birds and critters chirping and skittering about. He sat across a large river bank, his back leaned onto a tree deeply covered in think moss and other small ground plants. Small fish could be seen leaping out of the water of the lake. He watched as the water rippled from a light green webbed tail that breached the water near the fish, shuffling with the saddle bag hung on his shoulder, he pulled out one of his note taking books along with a quill, the cover of the book spelling out-
-Dragon Analysis For the Future Volume 13-
Izuku took out a bottle of ink he recently bought from the market in the near town this morning. He dipped the quill tainting the tip of it with the black inky substance. He looked back at the water just in time to see a fish leap high into the air only to be brought back down in a swift motion by a long sticky tongue and back into the darkness of the lake. Similar to that of a frog or chameleon. Izuku stared in awe, eyes glossed over with a shine and a smile sprouting on his freckled face.
"Whoa! I never knew she could do that" he praised. Smiling, he wrote down notes on his new discovery of the water dragon. If Izuku didn't know any better he would have wanted to measure just how far it could stretch to reach food. But he didn't want to bother the frog-like dragon.
Engrossed in his note taking and slight mumbling he didn't notice that said dragon was making its way towards him with sticky webbed feet patting down the grassy floor and leaving a small wet trail of water from the river.
When they made their way towards him and stopped only an inch or two away the boy still didn't notice the dragon in front of him. Mumbling something along the lines of having a tongue like that would definitely have an advantage to capture food on and off land That was until of course the dragon leaned over Izuku to see what it was Izuku was mumbling about, his face almost pressed in between the pages. A small water droplet found its way onto a page that was blank of any writing.
Izuku look up from his book to see the small webby dragon no taller than a Great Dane. The dragon returned the look with the tilt of her head, as water dripped off her smooth fish like scales.
"O-oh? What is it?" Izuku stuttered locking eyes with the dragon, feeling a bit lightheaded at how close she was, it was the closest he'd come to the water dragon since the eight times he had visited, and now that he had a more close up look he could see the scales on her body shined with glossiness. Probably a type of mucus her species secreted to help her skim through the water without too much friction to drag them. And the thick flat tail would act as a paddle to increase swimming speed.
He pushed that thought away for later to write down. She nudged the cover of the book with her smooth round snout.
He looked down to the notebook.
"Huh? The book?" Midoriya asked dumbly. The dragon nudged the book again as a conformation. Izuku put down the quill in his hand on the grass and turned the book so the dragon could see what was on the pages. Information on her species alongside a few concept drawings. The new one being on the new discovery of the stretchy tongue.
Izuku watched the dragons face as she looked over everything. Izuku couldn't help but think those intelligent eyes of hers was actually reading and understood everything on the page.
"What do you think? I-is it ok?" He asked shyly. Mentally smacking his head because how would she answer since dragons couldn't talk. At least not that he knew of yet.
The dragon look back up to Izuku and for a moment Izuku thought he saw her give him a small smile. She turned around making a small guttural huff of air through her snout as she walked a few paces away. Then turned around to look back at Izuku who had a confused look plastered on his face.
