Oh the dollhouse was something special. It was coined, the dollhouse by Cally and her brother Michael who had gone to college only a year ago. It was named that not for the fun and imaginative version of the dollhouse but; for the fact that everything looked
perfect from the outside but no one ever quite knew what went on, on the inside of that house.
No one knew of the scotch on the breath of the tightly wound Christian man Cally called a father. No one had heard of the bruises he gave them or the time Michael tried to shield Cally from one of there father's drunken attacks. No, but he was just a young boy then unable to stop the harsh words and even harsher beatings. No one knew of Tracy's constant berating of her daughter's beauty and her inability to love the beautiful children she had created.
No,to the outside world the Davenports were the perfect Christian family who attended weekly services at their church. People knew of the wealth they ascertained, the huge house they had to live in, and everything that came with being the perfect nuclear family. " Everybody thinks that we're perfect please don't let them look through the curtains."
What would happen to their reputation as the "perfect" and "happy" family if people knew of the rage and addiction that festered within that house. Not only were alcohol and physical abuse problems within the home there was infidelity, misuse of prescription drugs, and no acknowledgement of emotion whatsoever.
How could you raise someone in an environment like this? The mental damage caused by these two ruthless individuals Cally and Michael called parents was unfathomable. It was like living in a constant state of inevitable oblivion.
