-One Year Earlier

"Scarlet wake up! You're going to be

late going to school!" I groan. "Do I

have to go mom?" I hear footsteps

then I feel the blanket being pulled

away and my body being exposed to

the harsh winter air. I begin to shiver.

"Y-you still haven't paid the gas bill m-

mom? It's f-freezing in here." She

sighs. "No still don't have the enough

money, I tried calling your dad but

he's "too busy". So I'm going to go

down to CEDA and see if they'll help.

If they don't, I still promise when you

get out of school the gas will be on.

Now get up." She leaves my room.

I grab my blanket off the floor and

wraps around in it and heads to the

kitchen. Taking two large pots filling

them with water and putting them on

the hot plates so the water can heat

up. While waiting I decide to have me

a bowl of cereal.

Every since my father left, things

have gotten bad. My mother is

working at some diner full time and

the pay rate is terrible, and she's

barely home. So I'm always alone.

Once I finish eating my cereal I mixed

the hot water with the cold water in

the tub so I can take a quick bath. I

also turn on the electric heater in the

bathroom so it won't be that cold once

I got out.

Afterwards I get dressed. I don't have

A lot of clothing options so I throw on

a black pullover hoodie, some jeans,

and my lucky black vans. As for my

hair a quick blow dry. "Mom I'm off to

school! See you later! Love you!" I

put on my coat as I walk to school.

Times like this I really miss dad

being around. I would've had a ride

to school instead of walking the ten

city blocks to get there. I should've

went the other way instead of the

shortcut. Paying more attention to

my running wild thoughts I didn't

notice the figures in front of me.

I bump into someone really hard

I almost tumble over. "Hey! Watch

where the fuck you're going!" I jump

at the deep and intimidating voice.

"I, I, I, I apologize. I didn't mean to.

P-please forgive me." I say still

looking down fumbling with my

coat zipper. A hand grab my face

forcing me to look up. Zachary! I

bumped into Zachary Phelps! I

literally felt the blood drain from my

face.  "You're apologizing to me, not

the fucking ground!" The guys

surrounding him, I guess you can call

them his little minions, starts

laughing. "Now look at me and

apologize like you mean it." I does

am I told. "She's submissive! That's

kind of hot." One of his minions chirp.

Zachary just stood there, staring at

me like as if he's trying to burn a hole

within my soul. Although it's 20

degrees out, my body was on fire.

I was feeling feverish. "What are you

staring at?! You're going to late

getting to school if you keep standing

here like a idiot" Zach says as he

snaps out of it. "Go! Get out of here!"

he yells. I turn and quickly walk

continuing my journey back to school.

I don't know why my I felt like a

walking flame and my heartbeat

wouldn't slow down. Could it be

because of Zachary?
