As I walked out of school today, my foot hit something that was discarded on the ground. I jumped, startled at the sudden clang of a metal scratching along the concrete. Bewildered I bent down and gingerly picked up the item I had disturbed. It was a key.
"Yah, thief." someone yelled. I quickly shook my head and stammered out a reply.
"No, I just found it lying on the ground. That's all, I swear." I took a deep breath to calm myself.
"Well, whatever." A short male rudely snatched the key from my hand.
"Your welcome." I muttered under my breath. I sighed and ran my fingers through my hair. It's been a long, stressful day. The rude male snorted and stalked off. I watched him waddle off. Humanity sure is damned if everyone acts as rude as he. I observed as another male, slightly taller run up to him. I saw his mouth move but his words were caught in the wind.
"She found it apparently..." was the reply I heard from the short one. I scoffed. He accused me at first. I turned away, tired from the day I had. I wanted to relax and hibernate under my blankets. Suddenly, the slightly taller male halted my journey home.
"How can you see the key?" he demanded, appearing in front of me. I reeled back. How did he get here so fast? I didn't even hear footsteps.
"What?" I blinked my eyes rapidly, my mouth moving faster than my brain. He rolled his eyes and repeated the question, annoyance lacing his high pitched tone.
"Because I'm not blind?" I answered uncertainly.
