THE PALACE , THE KINGDOM OF CLEON

The queen lay dying on her bed, with every intake of breath she lost a thread of life. The pain in her body was immense as she felt the cancer take reign of her body, eating away at her lifeline. Just last week she was by her loving husband, the king's, side helping him with the kingdom's affairs. The change was unbelievably fast. The doctors said she would have at least 3 months to live, but in just a matter of days she was inches away from death's doorstep.

Many nobles had visited through the week, offering different solutions to her conditions. One even suggested the ultimate evil, the believed legends of dark magic. She immediately sent him away, she may be dying but she would not die a coward. Everyone has got their time in life, and if this was hers, then she would happily embrace it and kiss the world goodbye.

The king had visited her one evening, he looked tired and exhausted when he came to her. When he looked at her, his face clouded over with emotion, particularly of grief and sadness. She patted on the spot next to her, and he came forward immediately and collapsed on the bed, "What happened?" He gazed at her warily, "I'm trying so
Hard, but the revolts are just getting worse. Every step of the solution there is always blocked by another problem. It's so hard that sometimes I imagine how life would've been if I wasn't a king. And with you over here, I'm not sure how much longer I can go on like this." He looked so broken.

"Please don't leave me Rowen. I don't know what I would do without you. Please." He croaked.

She gave him a smile, "Don't worry I'm right here, okay? I'm not going to leave you." She beckoned him forward, and kissed his forehead. They lay there with our foreheads leaning on each other, breathing in sync, like one being. "I love you so much. Please don't leave me. Please." He whispered. She put a palm on his chest and felt the steady beat. "I will always be with you, no matter where you are." It's just that I might not be able to be with you there, physically, she thought, but kept it to herself. She gently held his cheeks.

"I will always love you. To eternity and beyond."

A few days later her son ran to her side, a little boy of 7 winters old, he was running as fast his short pudgy legs and his arms open to hug me. His beautiful green eyes wide open and filled with tears and shock. "Mama! Mama, are you alright?!" He asked between gasps. He looked so heartbroken that it was increasing the ache in her chest too. She loved her son, Leon too much to leave him. But she knew he was in good hands. She had to leave at some time, this was just earlier than expected.

She mustered all the strength she had and said, "I'm fine son. Come here." She held my arms wide open. He jumped right into the, and clung to her like his life depended on it. The impact of the jump was of little pain, but the queen found comfort in the pain, a safe haven. She released a tired sight, as her son's back shook, indicating that he was crying.

"I'm sorry, I was too lazy to help you in anything. I tried to find the best healer, but no-one was there. I'M SORRY!" He cried loudly and continued to sob into her chest. She held him and shed her own shed of tears. She was going to miss this, miss holding her son. Miss his coronation, his first heartbreak and his wedding. She was going to miss him.

"Listen Leon, no matter where you go I will be there with you. I will be there with you every step of the way." Each word was getting harder to speak. The pain increasing, but she continued to speak. "Know this, there was never a day when I was not proud of you and I always will be. I will always love you." She croaked.

Thankfully she didn't have to speak anymore, he just nodded and went to sleep in her arms. She watched her son sleep soundly for a few hours. The sun was starting to peek out of it's horizon. She gazed longingly at the horizon, thinking that it was not long now that she was going to join and rise with the horizon. The Queen Rowen looked at her son again, for the last time, and nodded "I love you son. You shall see me in the stars. I love you."

With those parting words, the Queen Of Cleon closed her eyes to eternal and sound sleep.

I will love you to eternity and beyond.
