Stepping out of the shower from her steaming hot shower, Arielle let her soft feet touch the cold white tiles on the floor, making her shiver a little. Arielle took her soft, cotton made towel and wrapped it around her now goose-bump body and strutted her way to the frontal mirror. With all the heat that was surrounding the room, the mirror was covered in steam from her relaxing thirty-five minute escape. She took her right hand and gently wiped the mirror to see herself. She let out a saddening sigh.
What have I gotten myself into, she thought to herself. In her mind, she would rather still be at home, dwelling in her sorrows. She would rather be locked up in her room, eating a big carton of Ben & Jerry's ice cream while watching some old classic Lifetime movies she seen over a hundred times. She would rather be laying down in her own comfortable bed sleeping all her pain away.
But no.
Her best friend, Tyanna was not having that. Seeing her best friend since diaper days in pain angered her. Her best friend--practically her sister--was slowing slipping away from her because of some bitch-made nigga that should've never had her in the first place.
Seeing the pain that was clear on Arielle's face made her wanted to kill him.Over the time, Arielle's depression worsened. Tyanna would go over to Arielle's place and see her sitting in the middle of her bed, staring into space, eyes never blinking. Her eyes would be puffy red, the color of a fresh pick apple. She would go days without baths, only going to the bathroom to brush her teeth and use the toilet. That's when Tyanna said enough was enough. She temporarily moved her stuff into her best friend's house and basically became her in-home nurse.
There would be times where Tyanna would have to force Arielle to eat. She constantly had to baby her best friend to do her daily activities. At nights she would hear her crying in her sleep. The constant reminder of what that bitch-ass nigga did to her sister made Tyanna come up with a brilliant idea.
The escape getaway to Miami.
At first Arielle was against it. She just would rather sleep all day and cry all night.**Flashback**
Arielle was sitting in her usual spot in her bed. Her mattress became so use to her sitting there that a natural dent was right in the middle of her bed. Her tv was on but she paid no attention to it. The only thing she could think of is why?
Why did this happen to me? Why wasn't I good enough for him? Why couldn't he love me like I love him? Why? Why? Why?She tried to cry once again but tears refused to fall down. She had cried so much that no tears were available anymore.
She was so clouded in her constant questions that she hadn't paid attention to her door being opened. Tyanna walked into her room, a daily routine. Arielle became so accustomed to her comings that she would notice that she would come in to either give her breakfast at 9 a.m., bring her something to snack on at 1 p.m., bring her dinner at 7 p.m., and her shower at 8 p.m.
But today had been different.Tyanna had came in right after her snack. Arielle took in the natural beauty of her bestie. She wore hot pink Victoria Secret sweatpants with a plain white cami shirt. Her long, dark brown, wavy Malaysian hair that she just brought two weeks ago and got sown in was pulled up in a loose ponytail. The room became engulfed from the smell of her Japanese Cherry Blossom perfume. From the way Tyanna stood with her hands on her hips and her brows furrowed, Arielle knew what this conversation was going to be about.
"Ari...I done put up with this shit for too long. Now it's time for this shit to stop." She paused and waited for Arielle to respond. The only sound that was heard was a faint commercial on the tv. Seeing that she wasn't going to get a response, Ty continued.
"It's been over a month since the breakup and you're still wallowing in pain. I'm sorry but I'm tired of this. I was trying to be understanding and giving you time to heal, but you're still doing the same." Tyanna was now sitting on the bed with her. Her hard face had now softened into a more concerning one. Her voice was calm and understanding.
"I know you're hurting. Hell it's hurting me to see you like this. But it's time to move on baby. He's not coming back," she said slowly. "I need you to know that life moves on. Let's be honest here, he's not worried about you anymore."
When Arielle heard those words come out her best friends mouth, she wanted to punch the fuck out of her. Who the fuck she think she is? Arielle's empty face transformed into a face of anger mixed with hurt.
"Why would you say some type of shit like that?" Arielle's voice was barely above a whisper. Since the breakup, she hadn't talked. She was surprised that she had any type of voice because the only sound that she would make was the sounds of her wailing cries. For her best friend to say something so harsh and mean was not out of the ordinary but the fact that it came out so sudden caught Arielle off guard.
"Look I'm just being a real friend here. You see how you're just sitting here all up in your feelings crying and shit, not eating, and not living life. Do you think he worried about you baby?" She stopped to see if her question would be answered. Arielle knew it was true.
He hadn't called her not once. He hadn't made an attempt to come back to the house they shared to get the remainder of his stuff he left when he left. Arielle knew that she shouldn't be slo affected by him but she couldn't help it. They had been together since her sophomore year of high school and his junior year. At the age of 19, he proposed to her and they both rented a two bedroom apartment. The two of them made plans to have kids after college and move to Texas to live their lives with their families.
But that never got to happen.
Tyanna snapping of her fingers brought Arielle back.
"To help your ass get out this funk, I've arranged a vacation for us."
"A vacation?" Arielle questioned.
"Yasssss hunty," Tyanna said snapping her fingers. Although she hated that phrase, at that moment, Arielle couldn't help but smile. That was the first time in a month since she had some type of pleasant expression."Where are we going?"
"Miami," she said all cheesy. Arielle face furrowed in questioning.
"Girl bye. I ain't going to no damn Miami with your ass.
"I thought you would say something like that. That's why I've taken the liberty of booking the flight and hotel fee charges to your credit card. Start packing!" Tyanna yelled before running out the room, refusing to hear or see Arielle's reaction. Arielle couldn't do anything but suck on her teeth. "Typical Ty," she mumbled to herself.
Sure Arielle could call her bank and have them cancel the charges from her card...but she chose not to. The more she stayed in this house, the more insane she would become.
Being sick and tired of pictures of them around the place with the constant memories she had with him, motivated her to get up. Arielle went into her closet and began packing.
A fresh new start is all I need, she thought to herself, a smile smile finding its way to her face.
