In the Eternal Island Of Shvetadweepa, that rose majestically from the perpetual waters of time, surrounded by the churning waves of thin, pure milk, where a million stars forever blazed and shone, within the Eternal Land Of Vaikunth Dham, a place where eternity was conceived and time was born, a place where Love found it's home. It was where, the Lord Of The Universe and His Queen lived.
The Sun dipped low enough to hide just beyond the looming horizon as a full moon bloomed across the timeless sky of Vaikunth Dham, casting the Land in hues of coppery bronze and reddish- gold.
The Lord whispered, a hint of mischief peeking behind the corners of His eyes, "So the time has come once again."
The Queen smiled, as she looked at that ever enchanting face.
"For the next chapter in the book of Time", She whispered back, her dark eyes twinkling.
"For the world to know the worth of Lakshmi", He grinned completing Her thoughts.
"For men to respect women," She tilted Her head "and not just possess them as objects."
Devi Lakshmi, Her head cocked slightly, and Her hands playing with a wild lotus, took a deep breath as a soul-enlightening breeze cut in and flooded the Land with it's coddling presence. She knew these breezes. They blew only when a drastic change would befall, they were the winds of Change, and the winds of turning Time.
She gazed at Her Lord. She knew He had felt it too, it's too lingering presence and what it meant.
He smiled at Her.
Always that smile. Always that smirk. Always that grin.
The time had come to teach the world another lesson.
Involuntarily, tears limned Her eyes. She pursed her lips and took in another deep breath, savouring every moment of this precious Time.
"Lakshmi?", His voice was soft, but resonated throughout the Bramhaand, like there was nothing beyond those two syllables that mattered.
"Hmmmm?", she shut Her eyes, Her heart syncing with the eternal vibrations of the Vaikunth Dham.
"We would be separated....," He started.
"Only to be reunited again, love", she completed before He could.
He smirked, "So impatient."
"Complaint-box", she taunted.
He rolled His eyes at Her.
She just stuck out Her tongue and hid her smile.
"You know how this story will unfold." He remarked after a long silence.
"Yes," She replied, "when Indra will unknowingly disrespect Shri, in his arrogance...."
"And lovely Maharshi Durvasa's," this time He interrupted Her to complete the sentence, "curse shall kick start every plan into motion."
"Look who is impatient, now."
"Look who is complaining."
"Don't I have a right to complain, Swami?" She turned those large, innocent eyes at Him.
He shook His head shaking with laughter.
*********
Somewhere far, far away.......
The King of Devas, Indra, lounging a settee draped with velvet and glittering with the rarest of jewels, sipped on a glass filled with the heavenly drink of Somras.
He was the King. The King of Devas.
He grinned to himself.
He knew it was time for holding court, but who would waste energy on the daily proceedings of heavenly issues? So he just whiled another couple of minutes revelling in the eternal privileges of Godhood.
