Blood red winked in the moonlight.

A small hole in the top of the tent made the pitch black darkness a little softer.

    The sound was thunderous.

    Anticipation was high.

The Crystal Tightrope was supposed to be the most magical circus — ever.

The main attraction tonight was the tightrope walker on a — supposedly — a crystal tightrope. The event was sold out, as it was every night. No one ever could get close enough to actually see the crystal tightrope in all its sparkly beauty. It exuded power and prestige and magic.

Carly Rose believed with all her heart that tonight would be the night she would see the famous tightrope up close. She had saved for years — as the price of one ticket was too expensive to even think about — and finally, she was able to buy a ticket. Tonight was the night she would make history as the first outsider to see it up close and marvel in its beauty.

Her eyes were wide with wonder and flickered with delight. All her focus was on the tiny speck of blood red light that the moonlight wonderfully had provided the past fifteen minutes.

Once the show had started, the tightrope dancer — as Carly Rose liked to think of them — would entrance you, and you could not take your eyes off them. At least, that was what she heard from all the articles that she greedily read late at night, when her mother thought she was asleep. Her mother did not like Carly Rose's obsession, so she had to hide it.

A slow medley wafted through the crowd, and calmed the crowd as if it was a sleeping spell.

It was starting! A moment Carly Rose could hardly wait. Although she was a bit sad as it had started — the what ifs creeping into her mind. What if she spent all this money and it was just okay? What if someone got hurt? What if she missed something? What if she needed a better seat? Should she have spent more money?

The thoughts vanished when a spotlight appeared and the Circus Leader was standing in the middle of it, commanding the crowds' attention.

She had heard about the Circus Leader — many called him Death as he wore a Plague mask.

Many critics said it was a bit much, but Carly Rose loved it

Many critics said it was a bit much, but Carly Rose loved it. The spookiness and mysterious of the mask gave it a demonic feel. Carly Rose loved everything that entailed with the dark — demons, witches, gargoyles, and the like.

"Nobodies and everybody's — welcome to the Crystal Tightrope! It is quite an honor to host you this evening. Allow yourself to be entranced and frightened by the sight, smell, and sense of tonights festivities. You forever will be changed! Enjoy the show!" Circus Leader — Death — bowed, the spotlight shut off, and deafening silence swept over the tent.
