Prologue.

In the year 1234, human Jonathan Shadowhunter summoned the Angel Raziel on the borders of Lake Lynn, seeking a protection for humanity and its kind against the demons tearing the worlds apart. The Angel blessed him with the Mortal Cup; an elixor that contains the blood of the Angel himself. Any man who drank from the Cup could become a potential Nephilim, one with Angel blood running in his veins. The Shadowhunters were thus born, named after the very first of their kind.

1980, Jocelyn Fairchild believed she had had all she'd ever wanted in her life. A Shadowhunter life was full of threats, but the rush of life can only be felt if there are countless risks against it. An everlasting best friend, happily married parents, and a goal to fulfil or die trying. Another welcome change in her life preceeded when she met Valentine Morgenstern, of the Morgenstern family; last of his name, ambitious to an inspiring extent.

And then everything changed.

She fell in love with Valentine -his parents died -they got married -the Circle started -death threats and fighting -bloodshed and love -sacrifices and births -pain and endless forevers, Jocelyn's life accelerated to an uncontrollable speed and shut down.
