Four Powers of Prison [BNHA Prison AU]

Shoto Todoroki's backstory was a tragic one. When he was young, he'd been burned by his mother. His father abused him, and reminded him he was designed to surpass the all holy All Might. And it didn't feel great.

Revenge and hatred had coated Todoroki's life. It was all about proving his father wrong. Rejecting his quirk.

It was a bitter cold morning that day. It was the day Todoroki used his quirk for the first time. Well, the fire side. He always ended up doing what his father wanted, one way or another. Always.

"Shoto, I want you to burn me! Accept your quirk!"

"Tch, shut it old man," Todoroki sneered, giving Enji a cold look. He shook his head, said something about inheriting his mother's genes for insanity for not wanting to use the fire. That very moment, right there, Shoto snapped.

He stopped breathing, even. Todoroki's hands tightened. He shook his head. He wouldn't let it get to him-

"SHOTO RELEASE ME THIS INSTANT!"

A mumbled "what do you mean" came out of his mouth. He turned and saw what had happened. A trail of ice had spread from his foot to his father, encasing him in it. Shoto's mouth was left agape. Enji kept screaming at his son, threats and insults. Shoto didn't process it.

He'd lost control. Instead of getting rid of the ice, he left. He needed time by himself. Alone.

The street was freezing. He'd dress himself with a small overcoat and a scarf. He knew his father could just melt away the ice he sent at him. There was no denying the old man would be furious, and Todoroki escaped the first part of his undying wrath. He wandered in thought. Maybe he could go to the small coffee shop? No, there's too many people there. It would make him even more uncomfortable. He sighed and shook his head. Todoroki kept walking. He heard his feet crunch the snow under him. It was December, and in Mufutafu- which is near Tokyo- was beautiful this time of year. The snowflakes came down from the sky, twinkling like lights.

It was afternoon, and the sky was dimming. His legs were getting tired. Maybe Enji would have cooled off, and gotten over it. He knew it wouldn't be true, but still hoped. He knew his father would still be mad. He just didn't know what he was about to do.

Todoroki stepped into the doorway, and took off his coat, scarf, and boots.

"And where have you been?"

"None of your business, old man."

"But it's my business that you almost froze me to death."

Todoroki knew that was coming. "And that's my problem how?"

"I really wasn't joking when I said that about you and your mother-"

This time when ice went flying to his father, Todoroki meant it. A fire had lit in his heart. He didn't know exactly what it was, but it was exhilarating. And when the ice had crept up onto Enji's neck, the pro hero was overpowered by the ice, seeing as he was too paniced to use his fire.

Frostbite had appeared onto Endeavour, also. Shoto approched him. A almost-scratch that- a completely insane look rose upon his face. A grimacing smile to complement the insanity burning in his hetrocromatic eyes. But only when fire erupted from Shoto's left, was Enji surprised. Finally, he'd let him out of the ice.

Or that's what he thought. Todoroki raised a hand to his fathers face, and it slowly started to gain fire. Tears pricked at Enji's eyes. Why?

"Tell me what hell is like, alright?" Shoto whispered. And he grabbed Enji's face, burning it.

Shoto sat in his chair, wearing a suit. He knew it was the end. He was pleaing guilty and hoping for a shorter sentence. When the media heard that the number two heros son was going to prison, they went berserk. Everyone knew about the time of the next morning. The Todoroki's would never be the same.

Some people theorized that Endeavour would go next. First it was the mother. Then one of the kids. It was only natural.

Shoto huffed. His lawyer tried helping him for a cut sentence. His eyes skipped over to the other table that where his father was, face still wrapped in bandages. Sometimes Todoroki thought he still burned himself. But then there was the fact that when Shoto had used his fire, it was blue. His father stared back.

A tiny smile came across Shoto's face. Anywhere was better than with his father. Anytime.

Hell, maybe he'd get along with his prison mates. Enji's eyes gave a small glare. Shoto turned back to the judge. Both lawyers were screaming at each other. His was saying it was because his father was abusing him, blah, blah, blah. The other one said he...did something else? Shoto didn't care.

Eventually, the trial was ruled out. The jury had come back in and all sat down. They all stared at him. A few had twised smiles, others had pitying frowns.

"Shoto Todoroki I hereby send you to a lifetime in prison."

Todoroki was in his orange jumpsuit. Handcuffs had been placed on his wrists, also. He was on the highway to hell. He stared at his hands. They hadn't been burned for as much damage as they administered, and Todoroki always wondered how that worked.

He barely lit his hand on fire, and the cloth was already being burned. He lit his whole arm on fire. And Todoroki stood up, wabbling on the way to the front. There was a glass pane separating him from the drivers. He froze his elbow and slammed it into the glass, breaking it. He didn't want to go. He didn't know what he was thinking in the court room. Not at all.

Todoroki didn't know, but he lost his handle on sanity. His mind was shattered between ninety diffrent thoughts at once. Right now he was most fond of not going.

The driver yelled and swirved off the road. Todoroki fell over and his head hit the metal of the car. It went pitch black for him.

Next thing he knew he was in a jail cell.
