The sun was shining, and the birds were chirping. The smell of freshly baked croissants mingled with the fragrance of the blossoming flowers. The air tickled my nose a little, but I didn't mind. Honestly, it beats being cooped up in a room all day. It was a textbook definition of perfect. I decided to follow a lovely couple that had caught my eye. I knew they couldn't see me, no human could anyways, but I still stayed to the rooftops.

A gorgeous young woman, dressed in a purple cardigan and dark blue jeans walked, hand-in-hand, with another lady, presumably her partner, who wore a short pink dress with white flowers along the hem. She was ahead smaller than the other woman and had golden blonde hair, as opposed to her partners, almost metallic silver.

They wandered in and out of streets, laughing and smiling at each other until they came to one of Paris's most loved landmarks. The Eiffel Tower. I smiled as they stopped.

I stood on the roof of a nearby building, watching as the taller woman knelt on one knee. The blonde giggled and nodded, bouncing around and throwing her arms around her partner.

I smiled as an idea popped into my head. Jumping off the roof and onto the path below, I pull out a small stone from the pocket of my navy blue dress and gently blew on it.

I threw it towards the couple, and it landed a few feet away before growing and changing into a small golden retriever puppy. The couple was stunned as the puppy bounded over to them.

The taller of the two looked around, possibly trying to find the owner when her eyes stopped on me. She spoke to her other half. Now they were both staring at me. Just as a little experiment, I waved. I could feel my cheeks warm up as they waved back.

A dark shadow fell across my back. I didn't notice as I was too shocked about the couple who could see me. Both ladies started pointing at me, fear evident in their posture, and I just became confused. What were they pointing at? It took me a moment to realise that they were actually looking behind me.

I turned around and came face-to-face with a towering shadowy figure, who appeared to be wearing a thick clock. The only evidence of a person underneath was the hand that stuck out from one of the sleeves, holding a long, thin sword.

I froze as the sword was thrust into my chest, sliding cleanly trough and protruding out of my back. The blade was pulled back out as the impact pushed me backwards, right off the building.

On instinct, my arms shot to the sides, as I manoeuvred my body, so I landed on my feet. My landing wasn't as graceful as usual, but it was a landing none the less.

The puppy I had created was the first to reach me, looking up at me curiously and whimpering. Smiling, I reach down and comfort the small pup.

"Are you ok?!" I hear someone ask behind me. I freeze again before turning to face the questioner. The young couple stood before me, fear and confusion etched across their features.

"Y-yeah." I stutter, not used to human interaction before. Pain blossoms in my chest as I grunt and collapse, the couple were quick to catch me.

"We need to get her out of here." I hear one of them say before the world blurs. The pain increases, but the void of unconsciousness seems to push me away, rather than pull me in. So instead, I slip into a meditative state, numbing the pain, but not ignoring it altogether.

Darkness. That was the first thing I remember. It was dark, and it was cold. And I was scared. But then... Then I saw the moon. It was so big and so bright, and it seemed to chase the darkness away. And when it did... I wasn't scared anymore.

I awoke to the sight of glass covered in swirled frost, morphing the light of the bright moon into shards of crystals that spread across the thin blanket that covered my lower body.

"So there's nothing we can do?" Someone whispered. It was a male's voice. There was a pause before he spoke again. "But she's one of us."

"I know. Mikal has done his best to help her. To be honest, I never thought we'd see her again, and given what she is now..." Another voice, female, replied.

At the sound of the two people, I turned my head away from the bright glow of the moon and towards the room, taking in where I was.

The walls were made of stone, with carved out shelves upon which, multiple books sat, and the floor was wooden. A large fireplace was built in the far right corner of the room. Surrounding it was two chairs and a small table. On the left side of the room, a single door stood.

Two people were seated on the chairs, and a third leant against the fireplace, staring into the fire burning within. I watched as the third person, a male wearing a tight-fitting black top and jeans, straightens and turns to look directly at me.

Icy blue eyes peer at me from under dark bangs as he made towards me. The other two hadn't noticed when he moved until he crouched down next to me.

"How are you feeling, Ellie?"
