Carlos
The chances of finding someone in the middle of the desert while I was driving was astronomical. So when I saw the silhouette of a boy outlined by my headlights, I jerked the wheel, nearly screaming. Luckily I wasn't driving fast, since dirt is hard to maneuver in, even with a vehicle designed for it.
Feeling the vehicle stop moving, I flung open the door and walked around to see a boy half sitting up, staring at me with eyes a pure purple, swirling and dancing and--"
"Hey, are you gonna stare or help me up?" The boy asked quickly, head tilted. He blinked - first his right, then his left, then his top center one.
Wait, a third eye?!?!
Looking closer, I noticed he also had things protruding out of his back, making him in the headlights look sort of like he had an poorly octopus hidden behind him.
To be honest though, I was more intrigued than scared, and the only thing putting me off was the boy's look of annoyance.
I took a step towards him and offered my hand, and he gladly took it, pushing himself off the ground and standing up with no trouble. One lone tentacle went off to dust his outfit in vain and I watched it, mesmerized in the control and fine motor skills the boy had over it.
The boy looked about my age- 16 ish with a few inches on me. It didn't deter me though, I'm a bit short and I'm used to people towering over me. He had tattoos weaving intricate sleeves down both of his arms, which were a bit lighter than mine.
He had 3 eyes, one almost covered by his sweeping blond hair, and in a way, he looked almost like an angel. If I believed in that stuff.
"What's your name?" I asked a bit quietly, and the boy twitched his nose and replied with an equally quiet, "Cecil."
I looked around, feeling my mouth corners tug upwards. "I'm Carlos. Do you need, like, a ride home?"
Cecil nodded but frowned. "You don't look like you're from Night Vale. You're not from Desert Bluffs, are you?"
Now, I've lived in the desert for my whole life and I can assure you there are no towns called Night Vale or Desert Bluffs. Hell, there's barely a community out here, let alone enough people for two towns.
"Are you okay?" I asked and Cecil nodded slowly, a strange look shadowing his face.
"...So you don't know where Night Vale is?" He asked, casting his beautiful eyes down.
I shook my head, and quietly replied with a no.
"Hopefully I can find my way home. Good night." He said, taking a step away from me and turning his back on me.
What, did he think I'd drive away without a thought?
"Hey, you can come over to my house. I'll take care of you until you get back on your feet." I offered, and Cecil considered it, his back writhing like Medusa's hair on a bad hair day. Damn, think of the family tree and genes it took to make those. Amazing.
"Alright." He finally accepted and he turned back to face me, giving me a cocky smile.
Maybe I'll regret this.
Maybe not.
