A few moments of silence had passed and Xiao Xingchen expected Xue Yang to remark about something again, but surprisingly he did not. He could only hope that the other is finally asleep.
He stood up from where he was sitting earlier and went to check on A-Qing who was also soundlessly asleep. Xiao Xingchen smiled at this and went back to his original post.
He quietly seated himself and realized that tiredness is slowly crawling up to his system and soon found himself sleeping soundlessly.
Xue Yang can't sleep but he didn't make a sound, and so Xiao Xingchen assumed that he is already sleeping.
All throughout, Xue Yang is wide awake, his vivid crimson eyes staring at the ceiling as if it could poke holes just by his mere gaze alone. He then carefully took off the covers on him and slowly sat up. Not minding the dizziness and headache present, he stood up quietly.
He made his way to Xiao Xingchen and confirmed that he was now deeply asleep. Xue Yang towered over Xiao Xingchen's sleeping form that currently isn't aware of the danger ready to strike.
Xue Yang's face couldn't be seen as the darkness, where lights couldn't reach him, masked his expression. One wouldn't be able to fathom what he's currently thinking.
He slowly leaned in forward, stopping a few inches away from Xiao Xingchen's sleeping face. Close. Too close, that soft breaths blew on Xue Yang's face.
Such an opportunity to stare up close, Xue Yang can't help but stop for a moment. Xiao Xingchen's face looked just like a fine grade piece of jade, it was too pale though that it would seem to surpass the color of the white blindfold covering his eyes.
Xue Yang's eyes wandered and then stopped at Xiao Xingchen's lips, it was surprisingly thin but closely resembles the deep red shade of blood.
Xue Yang snapped back to reality and the earlier dazed gaze of his was now replaced by a sharp glare.
He shifted his right arm inside his left arm's sleeve, feeling around for his Jiangzai.
[Jiangzai (Xue Yang's sword)]
Just then, his arm successfully found it and his grip instantly tightened on it.
Xue Yang slowly pulled out Jiangzai outside his sleeve, his left arm carrying Xiao Xingchen's long robe that he earlier gave to him, intentionally covering his right arm with it which held Jiangzai dangerously pointing straight right at Xiao Xingchen's chest.
The sword sharply glinted, when the moon's light coming from the roof's holes strike it.
Xue Yang gripped the hilt of the sword tightly, making his knuckles visibly turned white.
Make it quick! Just make it quick!
"Thank you, Daozhang," Xue Yang originally wanted for it to sound venomous but only came out as the other way around, it sounded low but soft and light like a feather, grateful and sad even, which Xue Yang did not even realize himself.
He was ready to pierce Xiao Xingchen's heart when...
"Why did you get up?" A voice laced with worry suddenly rang out.
Xue Yang was taken aback and he instantly turned pale as a ghost. His scalp tingled, and he felt his eyes burned.
W-was he caught?
"Go back to your bed and rest," Xiao Xingchen shifted ready to stand up.
Xue Yang instantly panicked but acting quicker got the best of him.
"I-I was just thinking of bringing your coat back to you...
here!"Inwardly thanking his fast reflexes, Xue Yang threw the white robe towards Xiao Xingchen's direction which the latter gracefully caught in his hand.
In the blink of an eye, Xue Yang took this opportunity to hide his Jiangzai back inside his sleeve once again.
"You shouldn't have gotten up, knowing that you haven't fully recovered yet," Xiao Xingchen lowly spoke.
"Nah, a simple fever couldn't take me down, besides someone took great care of me, how am I supposed to not recover?" Xue Yang announced and muster all that he could to sound beaming and grateful, although silently sneering inside his head.
He breathed out a suffocating air, his heart raced like it was ready to jump out of its cage.
That was close.
Had not Xue Yang acted quick, no one knows what might happen. Sick or not sick, it doesn't make any difference, he just had to take the advantage of things. Because after all, he's that cruel.
He smirked, although he had not accomplished what he originally thought in mind, he's still satisfied and enjoyed this little show. Deceiving is entertaining and gives a thrilling experience, to him it was too fun.
"You shouldn't worry about me anymore, you can sleep now, you needed more rest than me," Xue Yang instantly swung his body facing backwards, as a grin plastered across his face he tried to hide it by facing away from Xiao Xingchen even though he knew that someone with blind eyes would never see his demon-like expression, yet again he liked to be cautious.
No one would find out.
"You..." Xiao Xingchen started, but seemed hesitant. Xue Yang is welcome to listen but the next words spoken became his nightmare for the night.
"You're welcome, A-Yang." Xiao Xingchen said almost inaudibly, but such things wouldn't passed by Xue Yang's keen sense of hearing.
He froze.
Xue Yang's playful grin faltered, his lips formed a thin line. Yet again his face showed nothing, but a moment passed and he realized what had been said. He sneered, so Xiao Xingchen had heard him after all and if Xue Yang acted otherwise his whole scheme would be uncovered!
His face immediately turned sour.
Xiao Xingchen you...you! Xue Yang's fist bawled and he instantly gritted his teeth in anger.
Xiao Xingchen you sly bastard!
Such being the case, Xue Yang can't help but chuckle inwardly, if it would be heard outwardly, then the coffin home would echo a sinister laughter within its walls.
How amusing.
"Good night...Daozhang," Xue Yang mused as his eyes threateningly glowed crimson.
In contrast though for some unknown reasons Xue Yang's chest ached painfully, but for why this was, obviously he doesn't want to know.
A/N: Aissh, moi doesn't have any inspiration to write anymore. And I have exams that I just can't seem to focus. 😢
