After having a small Thanksgiving breakfast with Archie and Veronica Fred and Hermione went back to their bedroom to have some alone time. The months after Archie and Veronica came back home were stressful. Hermione had to attend court a few times with Fred always by her side. She had told him each time that he didn't had to take the day off to come with her, yet he insisted to be next to her the whole time. That was what he had promised her and he would stay true to this. He just couldn't stand the thought of her having to face Hiram on her own. He knew Sierra would be there or he could've asked Alice to go with Hermione, but for him it felt like the only right choice to be there with her himself. She had been through so much all these years and after Hiram had come back to town, he just wanted to keep her safe and protect her from everything evil.

Hermione thought it was cute how protective and caring Fred was. She knew she could count on him every time and could trust him with everything. Even the things that seemed ridiculously small to her. He just listened and assured her every little detail she was worried about was valid and important. She couldn't be happier. For the first time in her life she felt like she was where she was supposed to be and she wanted to stay there forever. Together with Fred her life was carefree. He took the weight from her shoulders when it got to much for her to carry on her own. He even tried to prevent her to get even close to the point, where it could get too much.

They were laying tangled in each other. Her head was resting on his chest her left hand was caressing his cheek. The Thanksgiving parade was on TV, but she was completely focussed on his face. He was the definition of beautiful to her. His hazel brown eyes were glued to the screen a crooked smile on his lips. He had always enjoyed watching the parade, yet with the love of his live laying in his arms it was even better. Everything was better with her around. Some people would say they were still in their honeymoon phase, but Fred was sure this would never change for them. They had been apart for so many years and their love for each other just grew with time. In High School he had thought he could never love her more than back then, now he knew it was possible. It was deeper and more meaningful.

He remembered something he had hid in a box in the back of his closet since the first time they were together. He never got the chance to use it and didn't wanted to give it to Mary. It felt wrong to give it to another woman, when he had thought of her buying it. He smiled thinking of it. Hermione caught the change of his expression and looked at him with a questioning look.

Hermione: "What are you thinking about? You just started smiling even bigger and now I am curious..."

Fred: "Nothing. Can't I just smile because I am laying in bed next to the love of my life on Thanksgiving?"

Hermione: "I don't believe you. There is something else that you are not telling me."

His smile twitched before he got up from the bed and opened his closet.

Hermione: "Hey! Don't leave me alone in bed just because I am teasing you. That's not fair. Come back. You're warm."

She was still in bed trying to playfully reach him without getting out from under the blankets.

Fred: "I will come back in a second. I just have to look for something. Give me a second."

Fred disappeared in the big walk-in closet and came back a few minutes later with a smile tugging on his lips.

Hermione: "Okay...now your smile is even bigger. What are you hiding from me? You know I don't like secrets after having to keep so many over the years and all the secrets that were kept from me. Please tell me what is going on with you today."

She looked at him with puppydog-eyes trying to get him to tell her what was going on. He just smiled at her and told her with his eyes that she should come to the end of the bed. He took her hands into his and looked deeply in her eyes. Usually he would get lost in them, yet something was more important in that very moment. He took a deep breath before he started to speak.
