Smell is your strongest sense of recall. I can confirm this through personal experience. I caught a whiff of Marlboro Black cigarettes and the October wind today. That smell transported me back to the night I met him. Outside the crowded bar, looking me up and down and smoking these cancer carrying rolls of tobacco whos smell would soon be like home to me. Yes, he was the one. Across the room. I could see the rest of my life through his eyes. Fate put us in the right place at the wrong time my green eyed boy with the caramel colored hair. As fast as she, Fate, put you in my life, she took you back out with one phone call. Where my world came crashing down around me. I will think about that October night for the rest of my days or until we meet again, my starry eyed boy.
