Carson held the camera up to the beautiful horizon of the setting sun and the nature of the woods around, different color leaves being more vibrant from the warm rays. Lowering the camera, a small smile graced his lips. What a beautiful view this was.
Ever since he was a child, he loved taking pictures of nature all around. He couldn't think of anything else that he wanted to do in his life. Everything else just felt so dull. However, Carson's father never liked the idea him thinking of wanting to be a Photographer. He thought that he wouldn't get very far in life if her persisted on that path, so he was always so strict on him, wanting him to be a Doctor, someone successful.
Carson loved his father, and he knew his father loved him too and wanted what was best, but he just didn't understand. Carson remembered how much trouble he got himself into from sneaking out to take photos of nature around. How his dad scolded him and always made him stressed. But what surprised him, was that one day, his mother had came into his room and sat down on his bed. "Son." She began. "Your father just wants what's best for you."
"I know mom." Carson breathed heavily. "But being a doctor isn't for me to be." He looked at her with a sad but passionate smile. "I want to be a Photographer. Just imagine, mom." He stood up. "Being out there, outside around the world, taking pictures of whatever the world gives me. Every day would be an adventure." He sat back down. "And you know something. Everyday would be more exciting, for there is no telling on what will happen next." Carson remembered how surprised his mom was, and she just smiled and put a hand on his shoulder, and said these words that made him the more stronger to be something that completed him.
"Then don't give up on that dream, Carson. Be someone that makes you, you. And don't ever have anyone hold you back."
Carson remembered how his girlfriend was always there for him, supporting him through and through. It made him all the more persistent.
Adjusting his dufflebag of photography tools, he looked back at his dad. "Dad." He began. "Thank you. For everything." The growing man grinned brightly. "But I'm going to be someone who I'm meant to be." His dad looked at him with wide eyes. Carson would never forget the tears in his dad's eyes, and showing his son a smile, a true smile.
"And I am proud of you, no matter what, son."
Hearing a clicking sound of a camera, Carson turned around curiously, and couldn't help but grin, as his girlfriend took a photo of him and the horizon with her phone. "That's a keeper."
"Every photo that is taken is a keeper."
