"Heh HEh Heh, THEY'RE DONE! FINALLY FINISHED!" A maniac laughter coming from the piled up junk corner of the studio startled my focused attention, screwing the bolts of my new creation into place. I crashed my head into the small lamp hovering above me. Ouch. How could my ears, head and sanity bleed all at the same time? There's only one answer to that question.

I recognized who that taunting voice belongs to. I took a deep breath before I turned myself from my swivel chair to deal with this nut job.

"MEET MY NEW CUTE LITTLE BABIES Y/N!" She shoved her scope-like lenses into my face and handed me her new inventions, not realizing how bothersome she is being. I took off my lab goggles to appreciate her fine works of art. Surprisingly, they're quite respectable gadgets, considering all the 12 times she blew up our studio recreating these things.

I held one of them in my hands and spun it around to examine how it worked. "Wow, these are pretty cool Hatsume. What do th—"

"I CALL THAT BABY, HOVER SOLES. I IMPLANTED FAN-LIKE THRUSTERS INSIDE, MAKING ME SUSPEND INTO THE AIR LIKE A DRONE..."

I resumed from my work while she explained them all one by one thoroughly, making sure not to miss any detail. Still being preoccupied with my own task, most of her words just flew over my head.

"FINALLY, WIRE ARROW - I CAN SHOOT IT, LATCH IT, RETRACT IT - AND I'LL BE USING ALL OF EM TO CRUSH THE HERO COURSE TEAM INTO DUST IN THE SPORTS FESTIVAL." The crazed teenager flung her new gadget to demo it in front of me. It was very impressive.

"They're so special. Aren't they y/n? AREN'T THEY!?"

"Oh Yu-yeah. They're crazy special alright." So is she.

I'm glad Hatsume never gave up though. Her determination is one of the least annoying things about her, in fact, it was admirable. She can surely beat those hero course suckers.

I can't believe it's already been a few weeks since my first day at U. A. High, the number one Hero Academy in Japan —I'll never get tired of repeating this thought in my head. I've already gotten used to our schedule and my new classmates, even Hatsume, although she can be much sometimes. Everything seemed to be alright at the moment. I've even forgotten the major choice I had to make not joining the hero course. I'm enjoying my time here in the support course that I'm not envious of the hero course students as I would have expected myself to feel. Rather, I want to prove to them the strength of my skills and talents even without superpowers. Perhaps, Hatsume's attitudes is rubbing off on me. I too want to be stronger than the hero course students.

Lunchtime

Bustling students are lined up in the dining hall to get their taste of first-rate cuisine school lunches especially made by the cook hero. I settled myself at the end of the line, grabbing a tray. My energy drained out from a morning of tedious work and Hatsume's giddiness. Oh God, how I've been waiting for this all day.

Warm, delicious aromas of curry rice fill up my nostrils as I step closer to the front counter where I reached for one of Lunch Rush's fine dishes. I looked across the wide dining hall in search of familiar faces to sit with. A pair of hands waved for me at a table near the back.

"Y/N! Over here!" Mika screamed out. It was quiet from where I'm standing but nonetheless, she got my attention.

I walked up to her table and sat net to her. Sitting across from us were some of Mika's fellow friends from Class 1-A. Her lunch mates change daily. She really does attract the oddest people sometimes. This time though, she promised me she didn't use her quirk to pull them in to sit with her, instead, they have seriously taken a liking to her. I found that hard to believe since she's been taking advantage of her quirk her whole life. Then again Mika is my best friend, they must've seen what I saw in her.
