Ray couldn't believe his eyes. On his first day of going to school in Washington, he already witnessed a fight breaking out in his school.
Ray was devastated about how much he was looking forward to this day. He wished he could just go back to Australia, but there was no going back.He rushed over to the circle of people with his bags bouncing against him. No one took any interest in him as he advanced, and when he went to the front, he saw a boy sprawled on the ground.
"Fight! Fight! Fight!" the crowd chanted and Ray then looked up and saw a towering man. He had black slick hair and wore a black top. Covering his top was a grey jacket and underneath he had wretched pants. His jaw was clenched, and Ray could notice the outlines of his cheek and chin. His eyebrows were narrowed aggressively, that sent shivers down Ray's spine. Then suddenly the clouds shrieked with droplets of rain, that began to fall bigger by the second.
He could see his friends beside him shouting his name, 'Andrew'.
Ray only then glared at the boy on the ground. His size was smaller then him, and he seemed weak and vulnerable. It seemed like he had been enduring this for a long time. He only looked at the ground with loneliness.
This sparked Ray, he knew he wasn't strong or powerful as the man in front of him, but he needed to act. He pounced into the centre of the circle and blocked the mans path.
"Move," he said irritably and his eyes were narrow and sharp.
Everyone glared at Ray, he didn't like the attention but he spoke loud.
"No," Ray said, "I don't know who you are, but whatever you're doing is wrong."
His face contorted and then his eyebrows narrowed further. He clenched at his hand and he looked like he was about to attack Ray."Why would I listen to a someone like you?"
Ray felt uncomfortable by his threatening stares so he broke off the tension by turning his back on him and helping up the boy. He seemed confused by what was happening and only shook his head nervously to thank him, but as Ray was about to smile, a hand pulled at his shoulder roughly. He tugged on his wrist and held it tightly, squeezing it until it turned red.
"What do you think you're doing?" He said bewildered. Ray tried to speak but the pain was overwhelming. Before Andrew could hurt him again, he pushed him away with all his might but he was only a couple inches away. He then advanced towards him. He looked like he was about to attack him
But then the bell rang and everyone slowly began to advance to their classes. Ray ignored him and walked with the boy to a covered area. Only the man looked in anger towards Ray's direction, the rain splattered heavily down on his face.
"Are you okay?" Ray said and placed the boy under the shade. Ray could feel Andrew's threatening stares from behind him, and when he looked back, he was gone.
The boy shivered and slowly looked sympathetically at Ray."He is on your radar now."
