Arya usually slept by Yoren, because he promised her father he would keep her safe. Gendry and Hot Pie started sleeping by Yoren too.

"How is he going to protect you all by himself?" Hot Pie asked, pointing at Yoren, who was sitting between Arya and the rest of the men.

Arya smiled sweetly. "I can protect myself, too."

"We know that," Gendry said. "We just want to help."

She rolled her eyes. "Fine."

The two boys sat on either side of her. Arya laid down first; Gendry and Hot Pie followed.

"I wonder how my mum's doing right now," Hot Pie blurted out. Arya and Gendry looked at each other.

"She's probably wondering the same about you," Arya reassured him.

Hot Pie turned his head around to look at her. "You really think so?"

"You're her son, aren't you? She knows where you are."

Hot Pie nodded and then sat silently for a moment. "Does anyone know where you are?"

Arya wrinkled her eyebrows. "Not anymore."

Gendry and Arya looked at each other at the same time. Embarrassed, Arya looked up at the sky. Gendry brushed her hand lightly with his and Arya took hold.

Hot Pie shivered. He joked, "I thought it was summer."

"It is summer," she told them. "But winter is coming."

"The Stark words," Hot Pie scoffed a bit. "What do they even mean?"

Arya said nothing.

"I wish I was home," Hot Pie said, miserably.

Arya did too. She wondered how Sansa was. Maybe Cersei let Sansa go. Maybe Joffrey got bored and cut her head off, too.

That night, Arya dreamed of spring. When she walked through the doors of the great hall, there they were. Her family. Mother, Father, Robb, Jon, Bran, Rickon, and Sansa. They were all together again. Sansa walked over to her and gave her a hug. "Welcome home, sister."

Arya smiled deeply. Jon came up behind Sansa and

Her father was about to say something when she felt a tap on her shoulder and heard someone calling her name. Suddenly, her family was gone. Suddenly, her world went dark.

Arya opened her eyes to see who was tapping her. When her eyes adjusted to the darkness, she saw Gendry.

"Oh, thank the gods," he whispered, sighing heavily.

"What the fuck are you doing?" Arya said, rubbing her eyes.

"You weren't breathing," Gendry was sitting up. He put his fingers on her wrist to check her pulse. Arya pulled her hand away.

"I'm alive, aren't I?"

"Sorry," he shook his head. "You worried me."

"I was having a good dream," she guilted him. As she sat up, she felt a string of cool air brush past her cheek. She shivered.

"What were you dreaming about?" Gendry asked.

"My home," Arya met his eyes for a moment.

Gendry smiled. "Tomorrow we'll reach the Twins."

Arya's eyes widened. "The Twins?"

"Yeah, that's what Yoren says," Gendry said.

Arya smiled. "That's where my mother is," she told him. "And my brother."

"That's great," Gendry smiled with her, and then it died. "Will you stay with them?"

Arya's face fell. She thought for a moment. "Robb would let you stay. He could use your smithing, and-"

"Arya," he settled her; his face dim. "I can't go with you."

"Why not?" Arya wrinkled her eyebrows. "You don't want to?"

"No," he said. "It's not like that."

"Then what's it like?"

"Your brother doesn't want some bastard boy who's been following his little sister around to smith for him," Gendry sighed. "It doesn't work like that."

Arya gave him a cold look. She laid back down, facing away from him. "I'm tired. We've got a bit day tomorrow."

"Arya-" Gendry touched her shoulder.

"What," she said, not turning around.

He stuttered for a moment, confused, before shaking his head. "Nothing. Good night."

Arya hummed back. He laid down beside her, close enough to touch. He felt her shivering and rolled his eyes with a slight laugh. He touched his stomach to her back and put his arm around her. Gendry fell asleep in seconds.
