Alice's POV
"Please don't hurt her, kill me instead but leave Betty alone!!" I yelled at him.
He tied me to a chair, and as much as I tried to untie myself, I couldn't.
"Do me a favor and shut up!" He kept sharpening his knife while laughing.
"You know, I always knew Betty would be a nice sacrifice, if we sell Betty to our rivals, they surrender, we get my territory back, and they can do whatever the hell they want to Betty" Edgar laughed.
I started crying. "Not Betty! Please not my daughter!!"
"Oh, so now you care for her?" He faced me.
"I always cared for her!" I argued.
"Oh please! You left her alone at home almost every day to get drunk with me. You always cared more about me than her. You never had the audacity to sit down and talk with her and at least try to catch up, I bet you didn't even know that she's dating her best friend now"
My eyes widened and I sat in shock. He was right. Lately I haven't given Betty attention. I didn't know Jughead was her boyfriend. I hanged my head in shame. I'm a terrible mother.
"You see, it always seemed as if you didn't love Betty. That's why I chose her as a sacrifice. The rivals and I made the deal already. There's no going back now. I just need to find out where Betty is." Edgar stopped sharpening his knife and knelt down beside me.
"You failed as a mother." He laughed.
Slowly, tear by tear came out of my eyes. Betty always warmed me about Edgar and I never listened. Because of me she's going to be sold. I looked up at Edgar as he smiled down at me.
"Here" he handed me a photo of Betty.
She was smiling in the picture. Her hair was out, instead of being in a ponytail. Her makeup was done nicely and she was wearing a pretty outfit.
"Betty's really pretty, that's the main reason the rivals want her"
"Edgar please. Don't do this" I begged.
"Alice Nothing is stopping me"
