The air cracks with distant sound and he falls on his back, staring emotionlessly into the sky, knowing that there's not much more for him. "SNIPER! 20 KLICKS EAST!" Mustang shouts to warn the other 3 of their possible demise. "You're gonna be okay man, I promise you're gonna be okay. We're gonna patch you up and get you back home as soon as we can." Spade says frantically as he attempts to stuff the wound with bandage. "This is it for me man.." Hammerhead says calmly "It's time for me to go, I just never thought it'd be like this." Spade stares around panicked looking for something he can use to save his friends life. "I'm not letting you fucking die in this sandbox dammit! I swear we're getting you home I promise!" He yells into the vast open fields of Iraq. Hammerhead grabs him by his vest and looks him in his eyes "I lived the life I wanted, I am who I've always wanted to be. And I'd rather die as this person than see myself become someone else. Not everyone can stare death in the face and say "I'm not scared of you", but I can, and I'm okay with it. Just let me go man.." Spade lays his head on the chest of his fallen comrade and sheds tears on the blood soaked uniform. "You were the best of us man.. you were the best of us.." In that moment Spade lost more than just a member of his squad, he lost his Captain, his mentor.. his friend.
