Eden prime... a planet that was once so beautiful and lush with life, now seemed dark and only brought on bad memories. It's illustrious reputation was tarnished with the screams of grieving civilians and its green grasses stained with blood....his blood.
A part of her snapped that day...she could feel it, whatever shred of innocence akuze hadn't taken from her....well finding Nihlus' body did. Those piercing green eyes of his once full of mirth and happiness now empty and cold. Her hands felt raw from how many times she washed them...his indigo blood seeming to stain her pale hands. She hated herself for not being fast enough to save him. Avery had never openly discussed how close she had been with the young turian spectre, he was like the brother she had always wanted~ NO needed. He was the lover who warmer her very soul...and now thanks to Saren, he was gone. A wave of nauseay and unadulterated rage filled her body at the mere thought of him...she felt blinded with anger and she hated herself for it. She knew better than to let her emotions take control of her, but this time it seemed easier...to let the hate take control and let her conscience take a backseat, it made the pain just a little easier to bare.
She sat quietly in the comm room. Her body was immobile yet she couldn't stop her hands from shaking. Her body shook like a swift winter wind had crawled up her spine. Anderson had left her to be alone as she had asked. He was no dummy, he had figured out that she and Nihlus were close but seeing her.... The strong willed young woman he had come to care for and the sole survivor of akuze break down into sobs as everyone else had left the room and her comm link to the council was cut, had filled him with only pity for her. The older soldier placed a single hand on her shoulder before leaving her in isolation from the rest of the ship.

As she and Anderson walked over to meet the council with Ambassador Udina in step behind them, rambling on about how to act and what to say, her mind was oblivious to his words only focused on HIM. She glared hard at the holographic image of Nihlus' murderer. Stopping him was her only objective now. In her mind stopping Saren was the only thing she had left TO do. An image of the turian she had met before the hearing....Garrus, She knew if she wanted to take down Saren she needed someone as determined as him. Her mind quickly returning to the council. She stared at the councillors and their passive regal faces trying to remain composed at the least. She could feel her ears going hot at the sound of the councillors unrelenting and seemingly inconsiderate voices...they were defending him?! After all he had done, they were defending him. Then again nothing more would have been expected from the pompous ignorant fools that made up the council. She could feel the anger beginning rise up inside her and set her blood boiling, but as soon as he opened his mouth and claimed Nihlus was a "friend" what little bit of self control she had left dissipated.
"Listen to me you son of a bitch! I am going to kill you! Do you understand that?! There is no where you can run or hide, I can assure you that. You may have everyone else fooled, but I know you killed him...and next time we meet I will be there to return the favor."
The entire room seemed to be in shock. Not a single person uttered a word as Shepard's tirade ended, the turian councilor was the first to speak up,
"Captain Anderson restrain you colleague, now~ it's quite alright Councilor, I would expect no better behavior from a human, and Captain Anderson's protégé non the less." His raspy deep voice cut swiftly through the air sending chills down her spine.
Anderson placed his hand on Shepard's shoulder jerking her body back gently "That's enough, Commander..." He said firmly staring her straight in the eye...they had lost this round...no matter. Avery had learned the hard way, patience is an important virtue, and killing Saren would require just that.
