I opened the door to be greeted with a waft of rich spices and fresh bread, it smelled just like home. But the most important factor that made this lonely castle a cozy home was him.

"Ah, Euphie! You're home!" He turned to me with a grin, putting out the flame quickly before heading over in my direction.

He quickly examined me before saying, "You're soaking wet! Take off all your wet clothes, I'll prepare a warm bath, hm?" He caressed my cheek before scurrying off to the bath.

I did as told while my thoughts wandered all over the place. I wondered, if I returned his memories, would he still treat me the same? Though no one answered, it was obvious that it would be a resounding no.

I slipped into the bath, slowly sinking deeper and deeper. I had to return his memories back. As much as I didn't want to, I couldn't bear to keep lying to him any longer.

Krei giddily led me to the dining room, showing off his majestic stew, baked chicken, and curry bread, and it smelled absolutely amazing. What was saddening was that this'll be the last time I'll ever experience this.

"What do you think, Euphie?" He asks with sparkles in his eyes.

I smiled, trying to cover up my sadness, "It's wonderful, it feels just like home."

'Just like home?' What an fitting thing to say. After all, I've never had a home till I found him. When he came, I felt warm, loved and cared for. If that didn't feel like home, then I don't know what is.

We chatted while we ate, it was filled with my constant lies and his never fading astonishment of my adventures that never happened. He wore a smile all throughout my stories, telling me that he wanted to go on an adventure with me someday.

What he didn't know was that instead of adventures, I surveyed for villages and burned them down. I took the souls out of the innocent townspeople, along with other demons to feed our hunger. Right now, the food I was eating was completely unnecessary. I am a demon, and humam food tasted completely bland to me. But if this was all I had to do to put a smile on that face of his, I'd do it over and over again.

After our long dinner and chatter, we headed to the balcony to cool off after a hot meal. He was looking at the stars with his eyes reflecting the spectacular view. Every night he would look up at the night sky, but his awe never faded in the least. Out of all the glimmering stars up above, this human right here beside me was more astonishing. I felt a pang in my heart, remembering what I had to do tonight. This would be the last time we'd look at the stars together, and right now, they look more beautiful than ever. How treacherous.

"Krei," I managed to let out, my voice cracking as I did.

He looked at me with those beautiful emerald eyes of his, "What's the matter?" His silver lockes flowed with the night breeze, slightly sparkling under the moonlight.

Before I had to let him go, before I had to bring his memories back, before he hated me with all his being, one last time, let me say it. "I love you."

He gaze softened, a smile gracing his lips, "I love you too,"

"But you look quite pale, Euphie. Is everything all right?"

I smiled, my heart aching once more. Tears welled up in my eyes as I shook my head to his question, "No, everything's fine. I just felt like I wasn't saying that enough these days."

He tucked in a strand of my hair and rested his hand on my cheek, "You don't need to. I know you love me, and you know I always will. Hmm?"

'Always?'  I bet after he remembers everything, he won't. He'll want to kill me then. I've thought about that moment a lot, and undoubtedly, this is the only conclusion it leads up to.

He leaned in closer and kissed my forehead with his soft lips, as if trying to ease all my worries, all my pain. I wish I could just forget everything, just like he did.

"Oh, by the way, Cain came by as usual. But he said that today will be our last training because I'm already strong enough," He chuckled.

Cain was my closest friend, also a demon. I entrusted him to train Krei to fight. Krei thought I did so because I didn't want him to be bored all day in the palace, since I had to 'hunt' with other demons in my clan. But of course, that wasn't the only reason I wanted him to be stronger.

"That's great. Maybe then I'll take you along with me when I go out." I lied.

His eyes lit up at what I said and his lips formed huge grin, "Really? Finally!" He hugges me tight and lifted me off the ground, "You better not take that back!"

I laughed as me put me down, his excitement made him seem like a puppy.

"Yes. I promise."

We settled for the night. I had just finished changing to my nightgown as I reached my quarters. Krei was sitting down on a chair by the window, as if waiting for me to come back.

"Euphie. What are you hiding from me?"

His question made my heart jump. 'What did he find out?'  I gulped as I felt a lump in my throat.

"What are you talking about?"

"Today you seem guarded. You seem out of it. Do you have something to say to me?" His posture seemed tense, as if he was afraid of what I was going to say.

"Krei, do you want to know.. everything?"

His eyes widened, "You mean my past? What did you find out?" He walked towards me and grabbed my shoulders, "Tell me everything, Euphie."

I stared into his deep emerald eyes once more. I've prepared myself for this, so why was I so nervous?

I covered his eyes and whispered,
"I'll tell you right now."

Then, with a swift movement, I jabbed his neck to knock hin unconscious. I could feel his eyes widen under my hand before collapsing onto the carpeted floor.

I kneeled by his unconscious body, tears welling in my eyes, as I placed a hand over his forehead. My hand emitted a purple glow, and I could feel my magic slowly drain from me. His memories are back. Now I must move his body and wait for him to wake up.
