It was a normal hunt. The whole village was ablaze and no soul was left. The other demons bid goodbye, feeling full after a good meal. I stayed behind, checking for any good loot that could be found.
I walked towards the church, guessing that the best loot would probably kept here. Then as I entered the burnt down builing, a white glow caught my eye. I flew towards it, casting aside the debris with my magic.
Then I saw a white forcefield that hovered over a body. In it was a boy with tattered clothes as if he barely survived the attack. His whole head was covered in ash, but he was still breathing and I could see a glimmer of silver hair.
With the last voice he could muster, he struggled to say, "Save me." then he lost consciousness.
I heard flapping wings and turned to see Cain next to me, also seeing what just happened. He was just utterly bewildered at the scene.
"So he actually was an angel?"
I nodded, wiping the ash off of the unconscious body, "Yes. I told you so."
I had watched over this lad for quite a while. I had a feeling that he was an angel at first glance when I looked for villages to ease my hunger. So I saved his village for last.
"Angels need a near-death to awaken their powers, so I figured that this would prove my guess."
Cain turned to me with a stern gaze, "Do you still insist on continuing your plan?"
"Yes. I must."

That would've been my plan-- to train him to kill me, to end my life. I had lived for over a million years and taken over a million lives. I was tired-- tired of doing the same thing over and over again. I've watched eras pass by and humans die endlessly. I've watched the tides rise and castles crumble. I had nothing left to do.
But no matter how I tried, I couldn't die. I tried to cut off my wings, and though it gave me massive pain, it didn't kill me and just grew back. I've tried drowning myself in the sea, but although my lungs gave out and it stung a whole lot, I still didn't die. I stood infront of a cross for a whole year, and though it burned and tore my skin off, I was still alive.
The only option I had left was finding an angel to kill me. I should've listened when they told me that the only creature that could kill a demon was an angel. However, such a thing was near impossible, for the angel race had been wiped out ten millenniums ago.
Then I found him. He was my only hope. This would've sounded romantic if I weren't using him as a means to end my life. From what I had observed, 'Krei' was his name and his silver hair was peculiar among the townspeople in the village, and he was quite often alone. This gave me enough time to know more about him-- he lived with his younger sister and mother who obviously weren't related to him, but he didn't know that. He loved riding his horse and examining castle ruins near the village, and although he knew that people were wary of his different appearance, he was happy in solitude.
But when he woke up, he couldn't remember anything. So my plan, which was destroying his village and murdering his family to fuel his anger and will to kill me, was immediately thrown out the window.
I was so fascinated by this human and how he tried to get along with me that I veered off my initial plan, falling in love with him was never a part of it. Everything became a complete disaster. But nevertheless, he was the best and worst disaster that ever happened to me. Now I had to face the consequences.
I am more than ready to die, even if it may be at his hands. It is inevitable.

I sat on the railings of the staircase, my feet dangling from it. I waited for him, I knew he would come.
And just a few moments later, the front doors of burst open, causing dust to fly everywhere. He stood by the door, he immediately found me and glared with menacing eyes.
He leaped and wings formed from his back. Pure white, feathered wings that contrasted to my own that were black, bony and featherless. I quickly flew myself, now face-to-face with him.
"You lied to me. You lied about everything." His voiced dripped with pure hatred, just as I had thought his reaction would be.
He unsheathed a sword that was made out of his own magic and pointed it at me. "You're a monster." Hundreds more swords formed around him, all pointing at the same direction.
I stayed unfazed, smiling slightly. The moment I've waited for has finally come, so why did my heart ache? Was I actually afraid of dying-- now that I was so close to death?
" Was it fun to watch me believe your filthy lies?" He scoffed, throwing two swords in my direction, which I easily dodged.
I wanted to hear what he had to say before I die.But then the two swords I had dodged immediately turned in my direction too quickly for me to realize it. My wings were cut off instantly. I fell to the ground, clutching my chest as I coughed up blood. I tried to regenerate them, but I couldn't. My wings were gone forever.
He stared at me with cold eyes, "Was it hilarious to watch me pathetically fall in love with you?!" His scream echoed throughout the empty castle. He threw more swords and circled them around me, as if forming a cage. Not that I had any plan of escaping, whatsoever.
He landed a few feet infront of me, tears spilling from his eyes.
" What did you want, Euphie? " His voice cracked halfway."What did you want from me? Was I an experiment? A guinea pig of sorts?"
My back was still bleeding, it hurt a lot. But even though I was able to heal myself, I wouldn't do it. I could easily get up kill him, but I'd never do that. This was my only chance of dying, I can't risk it now.
Before realizing it, he was already right in front of me. He had a sword pointed directly at my neck, the tip pierced my skin and drawed blood.
"End this." I finally said with a smile.
He furrowed his eyebrows, lips shaking and tears still spilling, "Why aren't you fighting back? You're so much stronger than me Euphie. Are you just going to let it end like this?!"
I gripped the sword with my bare hands, wounding it in the process. I dragged the sword down my neck, bleeding even more. I didn't want to say anything, I was afraid that'd stirr him up and make him hesitate killing me.
He quickly pulled the sword away, "Is this why you let Cain train me? For me to be strong enough to kill you?"
Darn it. Stop talking, I want my plan to succeed this time. I swear if this doesn't work, I'm going to go insane.
I walked up to him, agreeing to myself that I had to resort to extreme measures. He stepped back as I got closer, confused as to what I was doing. But soon I got close enough, I grabbed his cheek and used my magic to control his mind. I stepped away to test out my work, wondering to myself why I hadn't done this the first time.
His emerald eyes turned into a shade of purple and he quickly raised his sword. He aimed at my heart and with a swift movement, he plunged the sword into it.
I coughed up even more blood, my vision slowly turning black. He withdrew the sword and came back to his senses. He looked at me and his eyes widened at the sight,
"Euphie--" He kneeled beside me, hands shaking as he supported my back.
"I'm sorry." I coughed,
"Euphie, no.. " His lips quivered, still crying.
"Why are you crying for me?" Each word was a struggle for me to say.
He buried his head on my shoulder, sobbing. "Why is fate so cruel to us?"
I closed my eyes. I no longer had enough strength to keep myself awake, but I saved the last of it to say, "I really did love you, Krei."
"I know you love me, and you know I always will." Was the last thing I heard before everything faded to black.
Fate really is cruel.
- End.
