EMARA

Kade put him on speaker for me, causing my heart to pound in my throat. What was he going to say? The last thing I needed to hear was him telling his older brother to talk to me for him. That was a weak, cowardly move.

If he cared about our relationship as much as he always said then he would talk to me himself.

"Have you talked to Emara at all since the dinner?" He asked.

"I had to bring her to my place because she got wasted after we left," he half lied, crossing his arms over his chest. "The dinner went exactly as she thought it would."

I grabbed one of his shirts from the dresser and slipped my arms through the sleeves, buttoning it up while Kade sat back against the headboard, pulling me back with him so I was resting my head on his arm.

"She won't answer my calls, man," he mumbled out. "She blocked my number and any type of social media so I can't talk to her and I don't know what to do."

"What you could have not done is cheat on her," Kade snapped, hearing Tristan sigh. "Do you have any idea how fucking heartbroken she was — how broken she still is — when she saw that fucking photo on social media? It's already horrible enough that you've been so distant with her — you've been treating her like complete shit — and now she's found out that you cheated on her from the web, of all places."

There was a pause in Kade's sentence.

"Was this the only time?"

My heart was pounding in my throat, my face paling when Tristan didn't responded. I waited for him to say that this was the only time but he didn't say anything, and that's what made my heart squeeze to the point I thought it was dust. My hand covered my mouth and tears filled my eyes as I tried to silence the sob that wanted to leave.

"I never thought that my brother would be so disgusted as to cheat on his girlfriend of three fucking years," Kade spat, bringing his hand to my head and running his hand through my hair. "She's done nothing but stand by you for everything and she accepted all of your flaws and mistakes. For you to cheat on someone who loved you so unconditionally makes me sick."

Tristan inhaled sharply. "I don't want to lose her, Kade."

"You lost me a long time ago," I choked out, hanging up just as he exclaimed my name. The second the call disconnected, I sobbed into my hand and curled into a ball.

"I-I trusted him with my life," I cried, clutching onto his own shirt as he ran his hand through my hair. "I stood by him a-and this is the thanks I get! And this isn't even the first time!"

Kade pulled me onto his lap and I sobbed into his shoulder. He didn't say anything but I didn't need him to because he presence was soothing enough. His grip around me tightened and he rested his head on mine while I let my sobs and cries out.

"Are you done?" Kade asked, watching from the front door as I cut up another pair of pants that I bought for Tristan. "Is this really necessary?"

"Very," I muttered. "It's not like he wore them since I gave them to him. I wasted my time and money on his dumb-ass, apparently."
