I felt puddles of dirty rain splash around underneath my worn out black trainers. I wasn't in the greatest mood as I was getting absolutely drenched underneath the hammering rain. I requested a ride in my dads car to school but he denied as he had work left over. I pulled out my phone from my coat pocket and tried, but failed, to not get rain all over the cracked screen. My friend Freya had messaged me that she couldn't go on the bus today and an apology. I attempted to put my phone away and it slipped out of my soaking hand onto the hard concrete underneath me. I groaned and crouched to pick it up. I scrunched up my nose as a raindrop landed on it and I quickly wiped it off. I felt extreme satisfaction when the warmth of the bus rushed into my senses and I saw the familiar smiles of my friends Hannah and Mimi. They signalled for me to sit next to them and I made my way through the younger people on the long bus until I finally got to my uncomfortable seat. When I sat down, I felt the springs of my seat and winced due to the discomfort. "Ams! Finally! You look like hell!" My friends stated, almost in unison. "Really? Just got back!" I replied, trying my best to dry my damp hair. "Okay. All that matters is that Ams is finding a man and that's that." Mimi said, pulling up her phone. It showed her notes with the title "5 step plan". Hannah rolled her eyes and i laughed at Mimi's obsession for planning. "What's this then?" I asked. Mimi pointed to the first step and said, "okay. First step. Grab a boys attention AMARE!!" I pretended to be offended. "Umm. Rude. Carry on!" Hannah laughed and turned to face Mimi again. "Amare!! You dress so basic! No ones gonna notice you if you don't make a statement." Mimi practically shouted. "I'm not trying to grab attention!" I said. "You know, I agree with Mimi. I think you should put yourself out there." Hannh said, pointing at step one on mimi's bright screen. Before she could even get to step two, we had arrived at school.

I took my first step on the ground and looked up at school. Mimi was convinced that school would be my bitch this year but I was not so sure. Waves of frustration and anger from last year washed over me but I soon managed to brush them off. People looked at me in a judgy manner and I assumed it's because of what happened over summer. My heart was practically pounding out of my chest as I walked with Mimi and Hannah towards the main building so we could hide in the library before first period. When inside I noticed all the girls gawking over something but I couldn't see what. "Amare! I bet this is gonna be a new boy!" Hannah said, excitedly. I managed to push through the crowd and saw a boy standing outside. "Stop being creeps and watching him out the window!" Mimi shouted over the crowd and they all cleared off. Then we saw him. He was covered in black clothing, like this:

His curly black hair added to his dark exterior as he puffed on a, definitely not allowed, cigarette. I saw hannah gag in the corner of my eye but i then went back to being blinded to his surprisingly good looks. "Amare I take it back. You DO NOT wanna date a smoker!" Hannah exclaimed, making a grotesque look. "Idk, I say shoot your shot." Mimi said. Suddenly the bell screamed over my piercing thoughts.
