Dedicated to S0Keefe4Life, my fellow crazy fangirl in pretty much all my book-fandoms 😁😁. I love you!

Some things that must be said:

1. Sophie is not as oblivious as in the series. I couldn't bring myself to write something in which she's so clueless, so here we are. If you don't like it, you don't need to read it.

2. This happens at some point during Neverseen.

3. And no, it isn't canon.

🌟✨🌟✨🌟

Keefe was bored.

Foster and Fitzy were doing their staring-into-each-others-eyes-thing- which personally, he thought was just an excuse for them to successfully prove themselves the most oblivious duo EVER. For, like, the twelfth time in a row ever since they'd come to Alluveterre.

Dex and Blur were messing around with the Twiggler, trying to give it a way to stand, since the initial spindly-legged metal podium the Technopath had used had collapsed under attack from, funnily enough, an Iggy-fart.

Biana and Della were practicing their vanishing with Wraith. It was pretty hilarious, actually, to watch a hovering silver cape twitch slightly as Biana looked at it where she had guessed where his head might be, nodding frantically as he issued what were probably tips and techniques for holding her vanish. Della, having heard everything already, was busy holding her vanish perfectly while doing some complicated-looking sort of backflip-twist-combo that Keefe would DEFINITELY shatter all his bones in the attempt of performing.

All in all, the usual Black Swan craziness.

And him? What was he doing? Bugging Foster? Nope. Teasing Dex about his weird gadget-naming-sense while mixing up some weird elixir? Nah. Planning a prank specially for Wonderboy? Negative.

While the rest of his friends got to actually work on their abilities, he, Keefe Sencen, was......(wait for it)......

... stuck with a stupid book.

And to make matters worse, it was his father's stupid book.

Keefe had been hoping that the one definite perk about running away to the Black Swan would be that he wouldn't have to see hide nor hair of aforementioned pretentious elf lord, but having That Book nearby made him want to hurl. Every time he opened it, he felt like throwing the hardback volume into the closest ocean. And if he actually tried reading it? Even his father's written voice had the same effect on him. It definitely didn't help the fact that he was REQUIRED to read the book "from end to end, Mr. Sencen."

Of all the times Fork Man could have been specific, he chose now? It was just plain cruel.

Keefe sighed heavily, abandoning the book on the boulder he'd been perched on. It could go fall into a lake and rot, for all he cared. He decided he was gonna go sulk in a room until dinner. Or possibly till breakfast.

🌟✨🌟✨🌟

"Keefe Middle-Name Sencen, open up the damn door before I break it down." Foster's voice was icy, and it was no wonder. He could feel her rage (and worry) from beyond the door. Sighing, he rolled off the bed and trudged to the door, flinging it open to see a spectacularly angry-looking Sophie.

"Hiya, Foster."

"Don't you dare 'hiya, Foster' me." She strode into the room and plunked herself down in the only chair, leaving Keefe with no option but to sit himself back on the bed. "Where were you during dinner? And why do you look like you spent the whole night awake?"

He glanced tiredly out of the window. Sure enough, it was morning. The first few rays of sunlight peeked over the treetops, bathing the entire of Alluveterre in some sort of heavenly glow. "I'd rather not talk about it."

Her face softened. "Oh. Well, if you do... I'm here."

He shook his head. No way was he involving Foster in his strangely quicksand-like life. "Foster, I appreciate it. Really, I do, but it's something I have to do alone."

"Keefe, you were the one who told me that I didn't have to do everything myself."

"Yeah, well," he mumbled. "Now I guess I get why you wanted to do it yourself."

Sophie leaned forward, brushing his hand with her fingertips. "This is different. Whatever it is, it's taking over you."

Keefe stared at their hands met for a long time, until she pulled away. "I can handle it."

"No," she said. "No, you can't. I know you well enough to be able to see that."

"Foster, this isn't exactly a joke. I don't want you to get involved."

"Why, Keefe?" Both her voice and her emotions spiked with frustration. "You think I can't handle it?"

"No, I know you probably can handle it. It's just.... I don't want to see you hurt. I care about you." The words tumbled out without any sort of filter, and Keefe mentally smacked himself. Why the heck did he just confess like that?

Stupid, stupid brain.

"I care about you too," she whispered. "Which is why I want to do this. With you. I don't want you to be alone."

Keefe felt his mouth twist into half a smirk. "Foster, I don't think you understand what I'm saying. Heck, I don't think you understand what you're saying."

The frustration died away slowly, to be replaced with something Keefe couldn't quite put a finger on. "I'm not stupid, Keefe. I can tell what my own feelings are. I'm not as oblivious as you all think."

Keefe blew out a breath. "Oh? Care to enlighten me then? Because if the Empath in the room isn't able to figure out what's going on, then-"

She cut him off with a kiss.

For a second, his brain struggled to understand what was going on. Then, his body took over. He and Foster were kissing.

And she had initiated it.

Gently, his arm found her waist, pulling her closer, as his other hand stroked her hair gently. Her hands rested on his face.

Eventually, the need for oxygen made them pull apart. Sophie looked wonderstruck, as she touched her lips gently. "Wow...I...wow."

He smirked. "I know."

Some things that need to be said:
THIS WILL NOT HAVE A SEQUEL. I've gotten comments and even messages badgering — and even begging me to update this... do you people not understand the point of it being a ONESHOT??

Learn to respect the end of the story, people.

I know this is aggressive, but I'm fed up. Fed up with the people reading this and rudely asking for a sequel (all rude comments have been deleted) and with this fandom in general.

There. If I get another comment like that I will mute you.
