Introduction

It has been twelve weeks since the first infection. In an abandoned apartment of a once bustling city, sat a boy of about eighteen years old. The boy had chocolate brown hair that had debris in it, sky blue eyes with a hint of green that now lacked that brilliant spark they once held. The boy looked as if he was ready to die, clothes ripped and torn, cuts and bruises all over his body, and to top it all off his right knee was all torn up, it being badly sprained almost broken and had a gaping cut on it. The boy weakly tore the long tattered sleeve of his once blue shirt and wrapped it around his knee hoping to relieve some of the pain. The boy felt around on the floor and his hand was met with a cold metal and he quickly picked it up. The metal thing he soon found out was a pipe of some sort that was dented and wrecked beyond repair but he supposed it was better to have it instead of being defenseless. The boy reached into his pocket retrieving a small orange flashlight. He put the string of the flashlight on his wrist and grabbed the metal pipe in both hands, standing it on the floor while he attempted to get up. After a few pain filled minutes the boy finally got up from the ground, turning his flashlight on real quick to see the exit. As he hobbled over to the door that led to the street he turned his flashlight off to conserve the batteries and clutched the metal pipe in his hands making his knuckles turn white. He stopped before he opened the door, he patted the upper pocket of his cargo pants to check if he still had his back up pistol and luckily he did. He opened the door and was faced with a gloomy, lifeless city. The boy spotted a hastily draw box with a triangle on top and a cross in the middle with an arrow pointing to the East, the signature logo for a safe house. The boy looked at the logo with a determined fire in his eyes and shouted "I am Alex Shade and I will survive!"
