🐺"and so now you're my new roommate?"
it was a sunny afternoon, kids could be heard yelling outside, and the sun was as bright as always. No clouds, just the warm weather hitting junghwa's arms. he continued rolling his sleeves up and waited for the man in front of him to answer his question.
the older boy nodded, along with a "mhm."
the black haired male rolled his eyes and expanded his arm towards the brunette, to handshake him.
"nice to meet you chris."
"nice to meet you too," the shy boy shook the shorter one's hand, still lightly blushing.
"do you mind visiting right now?"
chris shook his head from side to side, "please do."
junghwa ran a hand through his hair and quietly led the way. he showed the password of the gate to the australian and sent it to him by text.
the sound of the door closing was filling the quietness of the big apartment.
after taking off their shoes, they headed to the big, cozy kitchen.
"you can cook and do whatever you want here, but try not to burn anything, please." sarcasm was junghwa's go-to when something started to feel awkward, such as now.
"i mastered the art of cooking," chris made a shy smile, showing off his dimples.
the idol looked at the taller one with an expression of pure confusion, "I can't even sleep at reasonable hours, let alone restrain myself from stress-eating. How? Are you the mom of your friend group?"
chris' eyes widened in disbelief as he let out a cute laugh, "maybe."
"how long have you been a trainee for?"
"what are your favorite lessons?"
"do you play an instrument?"
"do you write lyrics?"
"when did you realize what was your dream job?"junghwa was extremely mad about JYP's decision to move a trainee into his apartment, he wouldn't get as much privacy as before, and he can't blast music and yell the lyrics. however, the australian one actually piqued his curiosity. each question he asked led to more coming to his mind, and the more curious he got. sure, he was forced to get a roommate; but they are going to spend so much time in the same house. in this case, socializing is a must.
"this is your room, there is still some boxes left from my previous roommate but i'm gonna throw them out," he said as he picked them up one by one.
a clueless expression appeared on chris' face, "did something happened to your previous roommate?"
"no, he just moved somewhere else, we are not in a lame and cliché movie or book," the black haired male put them down on the carpet near the door, breathing hardly because of the effort. he went into the 'poop' position and regained his composure, after taking deep breaths. "I'll be out for a small amount of time."
the australian kid wandered around the kitchen, examining every corner of it.
the door banged, "i'm back."
the trainee hummed and opened the fridge, by curiosity.
"uh, is there seriously no food in there except sweet stuff?"
"we only eat chocolate in this household, my child."
"aren't i older though?"
"huh"
chris's eyebrows furrowed and he took the mom pose, "put your shoes on, we're going shopping."
"good shopping or bad shopping?" junghwa's anti-social being, grimaced at the thought of going out.
"depends on what you consider 'good shopping'"
"everything not including food or necessary stuff, like house stuffs. clothes, and anything anime related are what i call 'good shopping'"
chris finished to tie his second shoe [double knotted btw] as he said, "then it's bad shopping," and he left the apartment with a small bang [chan] coming from the door.
junghwa sighed and followed the taller one reluctantly.
"so you have a car, but no driver license?"
"my roommate used to drive me around when i needed it."
"your roommate must have been god,"
"more like lucifer"
the trainee's eyebrows furrowed while his brain tried to understand the reference.
the car ride was silent, no one was talking, except for the McDonald's ad playing on the radio. but it wasn't an awkward silence, [wow so many references] it was a calm and relaxing one.
they finally arrived at their destination and junghwa made the biggest sigh ever; the one you make before and after receiving a test in your failing class.
"it'S MY ARCH ENEMY"
"whAT ARE YOU SAYING, IT'S JUST A MARKET"
"NO IT'S COSTCO. ANd i classify it on the same category as Ikea, which is: "worst shopping ever". I don't want to spend 4 hoURS IN THERE."
"bUT WE'RE STILL GOING, BOI."
a lost argument, three hours, and two frozen yogurt later, the boys came back in the car.
junghwa took a big breather, "that was the most unproductive day of my life."
"for me too, and because of who?"
"my dog"
"you have a dog?" chan was quite surprised; he didn't notice any kind of toys or food belonging to an animal in the apartment.
"no, why would i? i can't take care of myself so can i really take care of a dog? you need time and love, and i don't have the first one."
"being an idol must be tough."
"it is, but being a trainee is tough too, mh," junghwa sighed once more.
he laid his head on his two hands, which were supporting it, and turned to look at chris.
"let's go home, yeah?" he grinned, showing his teeth.
Chris 'aww'ed and started the car.
🐺
hello! it's aki here :)
i have so many plots and small oneshots written but im too shy to post them
this story started off as a 1000 word oneshot, but turns out i really want to write more about their interactions, and how they'll grow around each other.
i based junghwa's character off some STAYs i know and myself 🙃 but if you want a particular detail (nationality or other) to be added, please comment!
i hope this fanfic won't become cliché, nor like every other kpop fanfic with the same plot.
i genuinely want to develop this story and hope that i don't get sidetracked or bored of it. if so, please don't hesitate to ask me to continue it!
i am still hesitant about whether i should make long chapters or short ones.
thank you for supporting and reading this,
aki, xoxo.
