Kasumi's Past

My name is Kasumi and I am 16 years old, and this is my past, my story.

My first home or real home, as you would call it, was on the northern water tribe lion turtle. I was a happy little girl growing up. I had a best friend, Jayla. I had a family, my mother-Mya, my father-Zaroff, and my little brother-Lee.

Everything was going great and peaceful until I was 7 years old. Some men from the higher government in our lion turtle city came to our house one day. I didn't know what it was about because my mother sent me to my room. But then she told me what occurred and of her past.
My mom was half (mortal) spirit and half human. She could morph into a leopard. Which was very dangerous, since the spirits and humans did not get along at all. And what was even more risky, is that I inherited the trait. And the men who came to our house, we're looking for any leads to suspicious activity.

Apparently, an old man was being threatened and hurt by a dark spirit, and my mother was near by and saw the old man. So she morphed into a leopard and ran the dark spirit off. But my mother also made a mistake, when she ran off in leopard form-she thought she was far enough away and got back in her human form. But the old man saw her and told the men.
So the government men looked all over the city for this person, or my mother. So we kept a low profile.

Weeks later, an army of dark spirits attacked the city, my mom successfully got me and my best friend, Jayla, out. But my mom died trying to save us, she was killed by a dark spirit.
Me and Jayla, first went to the lion turtle and asked for the power to bend water, and it was given to us. We escaped to the Spirit Wilds and lived with Aye-Aye and other spirits for two years. When I was 9, me and Jayla got in an argument one night and she ran off. I went after her and she was killed by a dark spirit right in front of me. I've always blamed myself for that.

After Jayla's death, Aye-Aye came and spoke with me. Turns out that my mother was originally from the southern pole and ran away here to live with the spirits and was attacked by a dark spirit and earned her leopard morphing abilities. He also told me that him and my mother were close friends. And in the weeks before the attack, she came her and made him promise to look after me and raise me-already knowing her fate and what I would most likely do.
So, Aye-Aye raised me for the next 7, almost 8 years. He was like a father and a friend, to me. We now have a very close, father-daughter like relationship. I've also gained the control of how to leopard morph, as my mother did and I have become a master water bender.
Years later, after living in the Spirit Wilds, I found out that my father and little brother, Lee, were also killed by dark spirits in the attack.

Life has been hard for the last 10 years but... Everything is about to change.
