I woke up to the sounds of birds chirping at my window. The sun had risen and its rays poured through the open curtains in my eighth floor apartment. I rolled out of my comfy bed and slipped on my slippers. My bathroom was right beside my bed so I turned on the light and began to draw up a bath. The maroon curtains blocked all the sun once I had pulled them closed. I smiled, sleepily and grabbed my cell phone.

-----   Good morning beautiful. I'm getting off of work at twelve today. I'm coming to pick you up for the weekend, so be ready by one and pack enough clothes for 2 days and nights. I love you. See you soon. -----

I read the text from my boyfriend, Hunter, and smiled. While shuffling through my playlist I slipped out of my tank top and shorts and slipped into the steaming water.

The eggs sizzled as I cracked them open into the frying pan. Pepper jack cheese, mushrooms , bacon and jalapenos; Hunter and I's favorite omelette. The day dragged on as I tidied up my three bedroom apartment. I was sitting on the couch working on my novel when Hunter came in the door. "Hey babe. How was work?" I asked, shutting my laptop and laying it on the coffee table. I gave him a quick peck on the lips and caressed his cheek. "My day has been good, but it will only get better." He said, kissing me, longer this time. I smiled. "What do you have planned, Hunter?" I asked, curiously. He just flashed me a smile and looked at my two bags sitting on the couch. "I'm going to take these to the car. Get your shoes on baby and pack up your writing materials. You have a long ride ahead of you and I'm sure you'll want to use the time to write." He went out the door, carrying my bags. I gathered up my computer, notebook and my two favorite pens. I grabbed the blue duffel bag that was sitting on the counter. I packed clothes for him. Knowing him, he has probably gotten himself so excited that he forgot to pack a wardrobe. I locked the door to the apartment and took the elevator down to the parking deck on the fifth floor.

Hunter's midnight purple Genesis was parked right in front of the elevator doors and he was packing my bags into the trunk. "Do you have enough for your bag?" I asked him, tossing the blue duffel bag to him. He caught it and laughed. "Thanks, babe. Will you let down the back seat?" He asked. I did as he said and he pushed the subwoofer into the small hole the seat had been replaced by. "Perfect." He climbed in the drivers seat and I followed suit. "So where exactly are we going?" I asked him, curiously. He just smiled and started driving out of the parking garage. "Just consider this one of those spontaneous adventures that you're always talking about." I smiled and started scrolling through my playlist on the radio. After riding for four hours, I had completed two chapters in my novel. Looking up at the line in the drive thru at the Chinese restaurant we had decided to go to, I frowned.  "You can tell it's six o clock. Everyone is picking up their dinner. We're gonna be here for a while." I said to Hunter who was hangry (hungry and angry) and insisted on Chinese. "We only have about two more hours. Could we not go to KFC down the road? We can have Chinese food tomorrow. I promise" I bargained with him, pointing out the checkpoint for KFC on my phone's GPS. He got out of the car and came to my side of the car. He opened the door and looked at me. "Well come on. You're gonna drive." I was shocked, but I sprang out of the car and hopped into the driver's seat. He never lets me drive this car, I thought, excitedly. The car was still running, so I adjusted my seat and buckled up. I put my foot on the clutch and put it into gear. Pulling into KFC's parking lot proved this was a good idea. They weren't too busy. I pulled into a parking space and we got out. I threw his keys at him and he laughed while throwing them back. "So I'm driving the rest of the way?" I asked him. He nodded and then ran his hand through his long , curly brown hair.

I've known him since middle school and we've actually been best friends for years. We started dating Junior year after he took me to prom. He was so handsome in that black tux. His tie was a bright coral color to match my dress and it really made his hazel eyes pop. I kissed him that night, that was when I realized I had been in love with him all along. We've been together for seven years now and I've loved every second. Hunter was actually born and pretty much raised in Puerto Rico. That is where his father is from. His mother is from Spain and his parents met while his mother was on a business trip with her father and family in Puerto Rico.   Hunter's mother is a lawyer and a damn good one at that. She's also a little uptight but, all in all she's a sweet woman. His father is a former writer who occasionally writes now. He made his riches and hung it up. He still collects from novels and runs a Medicinal Cannabis Dispensary. He grows his own and the dispensary's team is brilliant.

I pulled the Genesis into a long , narrow, paved driveway and proceeded down it. "I can't wait until you see it." Hunter's cheeks were beaming as his smile grew bigger. There was a gate where I punched in a pin and it opened. The driveway curved around to a three-car garage. Hunter opened the first door with the remote and I pulled in. "Where are we?" I asked, looking around. The house was huge with large balconies. It was definitely an Island house, it looked as if it was made of concrete. Hunter took my hand, walking me around to the side door. He unlocked it and led me straight upstairs, into an empty room and onto a balcony. From there I could see the ocean. It wasn't too far away and the house had a pool under the balcony, as well as a hot tub. I looked at Hunter and he got down on one knee. "Madison Marie Daniels, will you do the honors of being my wife?" He held up a stunning princess cut pink diamond ring and I felt tears form in my eyes. I nodded my head yes, unable to speak and began to sob tears of joy. He wiped my happy tears away and kissed me passionately.

We were back at the car , pulling our bags out. "You never told me where we are or why we're here." I said. He smiled. "I know. Just be patient, love. It's worth the wait." He took the bags out of my hands and told me to meet him at the beach access. I grabbed my hoodie out of the car and slipped it on. It was almost 9 o clock and I know the wind will be cold. Hunter met me at the gate and unlocked the master lock that was on the chain. "This is our new home. If you wish. My job is offering me a better position with a better pay raise if I move here and work." Hunter explained. I looked at the house and smiled. That could be mine. "I'm signing the papers to buy it tomorrow. My dad is forwarding me a year's full pay for us to get started." We were walking out to the beach hand in hand. Hunter has been working for his dad since we graduated as well as going to business school. "So I'm guessing that we are going to open our own dispensary here?" I asked, uneasy on the idea of it. I had watched his dad struggle with the starting of his own dispensary. "Are you sure that's what you want to do?" I got close to the edge of the water so that it touched my toes. "Of course it is. Do you think its a bad idea?" He asked, insecurely. I walked to him and held his face in my hands. "If that's what you want to do, then I support you 100%." I kissed him and grabbed his hand and started walking back to the house. "I just hope that school has taught you well. I also hope you learned from your dad's mistakes." Hand in hand we walked up the steps that led to the back deck. I looked into the sliding glass doors at the dark room inside. "There is some type of furniture here, right? And power?" Hunter just laughed at me and slid the door open and flicked on the lights. "Power? Check." He said. "Follow me to your suite, my love." He offered his arm to me and I took it, following him into the house. He turned on every light throughout the house. I was thankful for that, I knew my clumsy ass would have fallen down those stairs to the second floor. Down the hallway to the right was "my suite" as he had put it. There was an air mattress on the floor, a stand with a desk lamp on it and a tv on the floor in front of the air mattress. "Wifi?" I asked, sarcastically. To my surprise, he nodded his head. "Alright you get 30 points in the game of life." I said, giggling. "The air mattress is fully made. So that's 15. And the fact that you have internet already, is amazing." I laughed and began exploring through the house. It had four bedrooms, three bathrooms, and two sun-rooms. There were two master bedrooms. One upstairs and one downstairs. The two rooms have balconies, but the master bedroom upstairs is an over-sized loft area. That's my office.

"So what's for dinner, babe?" I called from "my suite". I was setting up my writing materials while he found out the password for the internet. "Chinese? I'm sure we can get it delivered." He called back. I smiled and started searching for any Chinese restaurant that delivered in the area. "You're in luck! There are two, and they're open!" I called to him. He came running in. "Here." He said, handing me his phone. It was a picture of the wifi information. I logged into my computer and pulled up my novel, while he ordered dinner. I smiled as I looked down at the ring on my finger. Life was going to be good.
