John Wick

This starts in the first movie. The name of the Girl character doesn't matter. 

What if John's wife had a niece whose parents died in an accident when she was five. What if Helen and John adopted her. What if their niece is attached to Helen more than John, which is why when Helen dies, she becomes closed off from everyone. The girl begins to open up more when Daisy joins them. She begins to open up and speak to John with Daisy. By the way, she is about ten now.

But when their house is broken into she is knocked out by the robbers. When she comes to and finds out that Daisy died she becomes angry. She goes up to John who is relucted to kill them at first not wanting to put his niece in the crossfire, but she tells him how upset she is and how she doesn't understand how someone could do this. Basically she has a breakdown that leads to John deciding to continue on with his mission. 

When they reach the hotel she is put into a different room where John has placed her with someone he trusts to watch over her until things are over. John makes sure that no one finds out there is a connection between them so that she remains safe from the underground world of assains. 

By the end of the story or movie, whatever. She is worried about John and asks her "Babysitter to help her find John. Which they do find him in the shelter with a dog, John doesn't want to name the dog but his niece decides to call him 'buddy'. 

And that's the end of the Idea I had. If you want to uses this as a story to create yourself, go for it, I would just like to be credited and be able to read it.
