9 times out of 10, things aren't what they appear to be. This is why we can't make assumptions, because things are rarely what they seem.
When my parents' love died, that was when I realized that nothing lasts forever. Good or bad, things will always come to an end.
I've always had a bad understanding of the concept that everything comes to an end, but one day, my eyes were opened.
I would always start a collection of things. Like an anime, or a series of books, and I'd never want them to end. I enjoyed them so much, to the point where I wished they could last forever, because it's always hard to let go, especially of something you love.
Then I realized I had a passion for writing, but a serious case of writer's block would always occur, and I'd always want that to eradicate.
In those times, I realized all good things must come to an end, but those rules always apply to the bad as well.
What does any of this rant have to do with what im saying? Well it all ties back into how I realized nothing lasts forever. It doesn't matter if things are going really good, or extremely bad, things will always meet back in the middle. The universe naturally evens itself out.
So the first time I realized things will always end, that's exactly what I wanted for my parents. Of course I'd want them to be together, but some things that should work out just don't.
You shouldn't hold on to something or someone, just because of the history you have, because at that point, that's the only thing you got left: the past.
People are so infatuated with what they could've had, or what could've been. They try to convince themselves that the future will be better than the present, but that's impossible if they don't take control of now. The present is the only time we have control of, so what's the point of holding on to an inevitable end?
It may sound cliche, but then again, when has a cliche been wrong? Letting go is so much easier than holding on. If it's necessary, don't be afraid to let go. People fear the unknown, and our ability to live can be taken from us at any giving moment. So go after it all. If you know what you want to do, stop wasting more time.
We are all more than the sum of our parts.
