She was an understanding child, her parents agreed.

For such a young child, she knew how to take in the fearful things her mother and father had to explain to her.

She didn't care if her parents were extraordinary; they were Gods Eaters, they kill in cold blood, and what they kill aren't even human. They were ARAGAMI.

She didn't mind that they would arrive home with their clothes being covered in those gross monster's blood, spreading the stench all over.

She didn't mind that her mother wasn't great at cooking and her father had to do it.

She didn't mind that her father was an outcast due to his Aragami blood.

She didn't mind that her mother was half human due to the other half being the blood
of creatures majority didn't believe in; the blood union of angel and demon.

No, she didn't mind at all.

She was always taught that no matter how ugly the truth seems to be, she'd learn to love it eventually. What was the point in hating the truth so much even if you'd still accept it?

"Love was the most important, whether demon or not, whether Aragami or not, whether you're an alien or not. There's no such thing as forbidden love." Her mother taught her.

"Even if an angel loved a devil?" Her timid voice asked. Her mother smiled.

"Mmhm, even if an angel and devil loved each other, it's not ever forbidden. It does not matter what they're known for. People have no place to judge how their love is shaped. And your mama here is a living proof, right?" The young Hibiya laughed and nodded.

"'Biya-chan! Maya! I cooked dinner!"

The young girl excitedly tugged on her mother's sleeve. "Let's go, ma! I could smell the burger steak dad grilled! This could be a good time to learn more from daddy, right ma?"

Maya gave a playful glare. "You won't be read stories tonight."
"Noooooooo!!!! I take it back! I take it back!"

"So mom.... It's been years since you've told me that, and I still hold on to those words you taught me. Thank you for your service for humanity." Her smile was sorrowful as she placed a bouquet of blue roses on her mother's grave.

Maya Schicksal. March 11 1997- July 6 2029. Not only did she lose a mother, but her father's lover. She was told that she died from an Aragami attack, which made it hard for her to believe considering her blood status.
But it's better to learn that not always the strong are at their strongest.
Hibiya started to sniffle, letting out the tears she has been holding. Soma, her father wrapped an arm around her shoulders as a sign of comfort. He started to whisper soothing words to calm her down, before he starts to break down, too.

"She's in a better place, 'kay? She'll always be proud of you, just like how I am to you. She may be gone physically, but her spirit still resides. She'll always be there. Remember that, okay Hibiya?" She sniffled, and slowly nodded with a smile in response.

"Thanks dad, you and mom are the best."

"Of course we are, we raised an intelligent little baby like you."
"Dad!"

"I'm just kidding, 'Biya. Just trying to lighten up the mood. You're still our favorite baby anyway. Let's go? It's school day tomorrow remember? So, let's say goodbye to your mom first." She groaned at the reminder, but still kept a cheery smile nonetheless.

She smiled and placed her hand on the marble grave. "Hey mom, we're going to go now. Have fun in heaven, okay ma? We're probably making you worry over our sentimental moments. I'll let you and dad talk first in private. I'll go to the car now, dad. Bye mom."

When Soma saw her figure disappearing from his view, he turned to the grave of his beloved and sighed. "You know, I'm really happy we raised a kid that understanding. She's sensitive and all, and even has my eyes and copies her old man's hair..." He jokes a bit.

"But I agree with her, it's not the same without you. Your death impacted everyone, and your sister has been a crying mess for the past years. Yet I know... That there's something I've been wondering..." He let his fingers graze the imprinted name of his wife on the grave.
"Who actually killed you? I'm smart enough to know that a simple Aragami attack wouldn't drag you to your death. Even I could see Hibiya wondering about it. But I'm sure, we will put an end to this mystery once and for all when we find who did this to you. You never deserved this... Ever." He growled softly. Before he left he smiled a sad smile towards the grave.
"Well see you later, Maya. I don't want to bother your peace there any longer. Watch over our daughter whenever you can okay? She's already 18.... Just a reminder if you haven't started counting how many years passed by knowing you." He grinned and waving before leaving the cemetery, and along the way apologizing to his daughter for the long wait.
