It all began when he was young
The age before the days of old_
When all asked him, “how old are you?”
And he’d just go on voicemail,
As if his brains had a short circuit
He was one and thought likewise
Wondering when he was going to switch
To the new age and understand life a bit better
“Life’s what you make it”, was the only definition
He knew and a mess was all he made with perfection
Rock shows with broken guitars, torn drums,
Burnt curtains and spazzing singers, to...
Ladies dressed in their skin spinning round
A pole like the earth and sun dancing salsa;
Was a chill spot.
We all knew the times he woke up at midnight
Hence, the pillows and blankets stood up for him
Spent the whole day drinking cold water
Just to get rid of the headache
Ashes like birds spreading their wings in the air
Broken bottles and open caskets lying on the ground
Torn Bible pages as proof that swearing before
God isn’t as easy as it may seem...
He loved his fire
Voices in his head became hoarse and hoarser
But still remained the preferred accent
Whenever momma tried to ruin his
Favorite moments.
Will you be there?
Perhaps, I got a little late to show up
Before the sirens sang the loud song,
Mothers held their cheeks out of discomfort,
The innocent couldn’t feel a part of them...
Feet had developed blisters, blood had already
Clotted and...they sought a manger
His face was slowly turning pale and he
Counted minutes before his last exhale...
And I wasn’t there but I wanted to be there
He was my favorite child but,
Watching him fade away was not the tape
I wanted to play even though,
I was so desperate!
The sun rises and sets
The wind blows and rests
The waters fall and dries up
But I’m not supposed to be consoled by
Climate change...
Am I?
