In the bustling city of Seoul, the latest craze was an app called HeartSync. Like a digital cupid, it alerted users whenever someone within a 10-meter radius liked them. It was an instant hit, transforming the way people navigated their romantic lives.

Minji, a shy yet determined young woman, had reluctantly downloaded HeartSync after relentless coaxing from her best friend, Jiwoo. Despite her reservations about finding love through technology, Minji was curious to see if the app could lead her to someone special.

One rainy afternoon, Minji was at her favorite coffee shop, lost in a book. Suddenly, her phone buzzed with the familiar HeartSync alert. There's a heart shaped icon blinking. Startled, she looked up and met the eyes of a tall, handsome man sitting a few tables away. His name was Hyunsoo, and he smiled warmly as their eyes locked.

Feeling a mix of excitement and anxiety, Minji glanced back down at her book, but she couldn't concentrate. She could feel Hyunsoo's eyes on her, and after a few minutes of silent deliberation, she decided to take a chance. She stood up and walked over to his table.

"Hi, I'm Minji," she said, her voice wavering slightly.

"Hyunsoo," he replied, standing up to shake her hand. "I guess HeartSync works, huh?"

They both laughed, and the ice was broken. They spent hours talking, discovering shared interests and exchanging stories about their lives. Minji found herself opening up to Hyunsoo in a way she hadn't with anyone else before.

As the weeks passed, their relationship blossomed. They explored the city together, from quiet bookstores to lively night markets. Each day, their HeartSync alerts became a comforting reminder of their growing bond.

However, not everything was perfect. Minji soon noticed that Hyunsoo's HeartSync was frequently buzzing, even when they were together. At first, she brushed it off, convincing herself it was a coincidence. But the more it happened, the more uneasy she became.

One evening, while they were having dinner, Hyunsoo's phone buzzed again. Minji's heart sank. She tried to ignore it, but the constant buzzing was gnawing at her, planting seeds of doubt in her mind.

"Hyunsoo, why does your HeartSync keep going off?" she finally asked, trying to keep her voice steady.

Hyunsoo looked surprised but then quickly composed himself. "Oh, it's nothing. Just some work stuff," he said dismissively.

Minji forced a smile, but she couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. Over the next few days, her insecurity grew. She started noticing other small things—Hyunsoo's vague explanations about his late nights and the way he would sometimes avoid looking at her when she asked about his day.

One night, while Hyunsoo was in the shower, Minji couldn't resist any longer. She picked up his phone, her heart pounding in her chest. As she scrolled through his notifications, she saw several HeartSync alerts from different women. Her stomach churned, and tears welled up in her eyes.

Hyunsoo emerged from the bathroom, towel around his waist, and saw Minji holding his phone. His face paled. "Minji, I can explain," he said, rushing over to her.

"Explain what? That you've been seeing other people behind my back?" she shouted, her voice breaking.

"No, it's not like that," Hyunsoo said, desperation in his eyes. "I should have told you earlier. I work for the company that developed HeartSync. I'm one of the beta testers for a new feature that helps improve the app's accuracy. These alerts aren't real—they're just part of my job."

Minji stared at him, the anger slowly dissipating as confusion took over. "Why didn't you tell me?"

"I didn't want to mix my work with our relationship. I thought it would complicate things," Hyunsoo explained, his voice softening. "I'm sorry for not being upfront with you. You're the only one I care about. I don't need an app to tell me that."

Relief washed over Minji, though she still felt a bit embarrassed for doubting him. "I didn't know," she murmured, feeling foolish.

Hyunsoo reached across the table and took her hand. "I should have explained sooner. You're the only one I care about. I don't need an app to tell me that."

From that moment on, Minji and Hyunsoo's relationship grew stronger. They realized that while technology had brought them together, it was their genuine connection that kept them close. HeartSync might have been the spark, but their love was what kept the flame alive.
