6 hours and 50 minutes and 29 seconds. Yes, she was counting the seconds now. Whenever she saw a plane fly in the sky, she used to think how much fun it would be to be in the sky, to have the clouds as traveling partners. Big sigh. Yes it was fun at first then after sometime when the excitement dies down it is boring, with a capital B. "Aslan" she called "hmm" he replied while typing something in his laptop. "Planes aren't as much as fun as trains." She whined, "It is how it is Risana." He said "But I don't even feel like I'm moving. It's boring. I don't like it." She complained. "Remember you chose the destination, not me so don't whine. And read some magazine to pass the time." He offered. "No, that's more boring." She replied. With a big sigh, Aslan said, "what do you want me to do?" "We can watch a movie. Please please." She requested. "Nice try Mrs. Drillik but I have work to do. You do whatever you want but don't irritate me.'' he said looking right into her eyes. "Fine. I will sleep." She replied with a pout.
Green lots of green welcomed them in the tropical country. If Risana ever thought sun shone on them brightly, she was so wrong. Sun seems to be in love with this country. Even in the plane she was feeling hot just by looking outside but it was nothing in compare to her excitement inside. She was here. She was finally here. She was going to meet her best friend. She was so so so happy. There would be many people who will not understand their friendship but it was as it was. Being an introvert that also an ugly introvert, it was very hard for her to make friends. At first, he was just a pen friend to her. It was always easy for her to write things than say it aloud. They met on a social networking site. Their opinion matched on a topic from there, their friendship started. At first, it was just normal but as time passed, it became more. It was as if they could express their feelings to someone without being judged. However, though their letters they started to understand each other, their life their emotion. They could share anything with another with out any fear or hesitation. They became best friends. No matter what people say she believed what they share, their friendship is pure and beautiful. Moreover, for the first time she was going to meet the person who had supported her, had given her courage in many difficult phases of her life. Now she was going to meet him and that also with her husband beside her. What could be more special!
"We are about to land. Fasten your seat belt" Aslan ordered. She did as he said. She was so excited to see the new country and meet her best friend but she was also very nervous what will she say to him. How it will be face to face. How it will be ! As the plane landed, she found her hand in her husband's and all the nervousness vanished. She smiled at him. It was all she needed for now.
If she thought being in sky was boring then she was so wrong. It's even more boring in the customs and airport security. In that moment she knew east or west, trains are the best. Traveling by plane was so much painful. After 30 minutes that were more tiresome, they cleared the security.
Finally she stepped out of those glass doors and all she could feel was the sun. It was so damm hot. "It's so hot.'' Aslan said. "We should have brought an umbrella." She said blocking the sun with her hand. Suddenly an umbrella appeared over their head. A lady was standing beside them. She smiled at them "Keep it. You will need it." She said, "I'm sorry but how can we keep it. It's yours. You are gonna need it too.'' Risana replied politely. The woman laughed, "I returned to my country after 5 years. My family bought the umbrella thinking I will need it. After such, long time I may not be used to the sun. Nevertheless, I missed the sun. I'm going to enjoy the sun not hide from it. However, you are gonna need it. So keep it." She said with a smile. Her happiness was genuine and touching. She was happy to be home. Risana took the umbrella from her and said, "thank you for being so kind. We appreciate it." "You are most welcome dear" with that, she walked away to her family. Risana looked at Aslan as he said, "Well, she was nice. Let's go."
They were walking together out of the airport. Suddenly a boy around the age of 4 or 5 came to Risana and offered her a red rose. "Aww is it for me? Thank you." As soon as she took the rose out of his hand, the boy ran away before they could say anything else. "That's just so cute. Isn't it?" she gushed smelling the rose. "I don't know. It looks strange to me. Why would he give you a rose? We don't even know him. You shouldn't have taken it." Aslan said. "Oh please he was just a kid. You are grumpy because you didn't get one." She showed her tongue to him. After they walked further down the road, another boy came running to her this time with a pink rose and just like the earlier boy he ran away without saying anything. The next boy came with a yellow rose then a white rose followed by violet and black rose. And in no time Risana had her hands full with different colors of roses. She was still surprised why she was getting this special attention but she was happy nonetheless, who wouldn't be. Then out of blue rose petals were raining on her, like seriously all colors of rose petals were raining on her from all direction. She couldn't believe it. She stretched out her hands to feel the petals, closed her eyes and took a spin just like the fairy tale. A beautiful smile on her face. And when she opened her eyes there, with a big welcome card stood her best friend. She smiled and did what any girl would do. She ran to his arms.
