"Max, get behind me. It's going to be okay." A young boy's voice said to me.

"Do you think mum and Dad will be okay" I asked back. Fear evident in my voice. The young boy turned and hugged me.

"Our parents are two of the strongest and bravest people I know. I'm sure they will be fine. Okay Maxy?" He assured and I could hear the certainty in his voice. He then started to tickle me and I laughed so hard.

"Okay Jaxy" I said in between my laughs.

"Now let's stay quiet for now. Mom will come and get us when it's safe." Then the boy who I apparently know as 'Jaxy' held on to me tightly as though he was afraid he'd lose me. I couldn't see anything clearly but I could hear voices and the warmth of Jaxy's arms wrapped around me.

"Max! It's morning" ma said as she shook me awake.

"Morning already" I groaned whilst turning to face her.

"Whoo! Somebody needs to brush their teeth. That morning breath can kill an entire army."

"Ma!" I mumbled through my hand that was now covering my mouth. Embarrassment is an understatement.

This caused ma to laugh "Baby, I'm just messing with you. Yes your mouth stinks but I'm used to it now."

"That's actually worse." I growled as I got out of bed and headed for the bathroom. I started to brush my teeth when Ma asked.

"Wanna have a girls night on Friday?"

"Did you even have to ask?" Girls night was our little time to get away from the world. It happens almost every Friday. Just ma and me watching TV and stuffing our faces to our hearts content. We would do other cute things together like hike, picnics or even tour and drive around the town if we had more time during the day. I was okay with anywhere just as long as ma was with me. Yes I know I'm a mommy's girl but it's a title I'm very proud of. I have the best mommy so I might as well be her best baby girl.

"Just checking. I didn't want to disturb any of your plans or whatever" she teased.

"You know I don't have plans ma" I whined causing her to laugh.

"When do you even plan on telling Jason you like him cause-"

"Shush! I cut in blowing toothpaste all over the floor." Ma couldn't hold in her laughter as she watched me realize what I did. She then got up leaving the room and said.

"Firstly ewww, secondly consider joining the track team. With those skills I'm sure Jason will want you even more." I just rolled my eyes and walked back to the bathroom.
After I was done with my morning routine I rushed down stairs. Ma was already making breakfast .

"Ma! It's my day to make breakfast."

"I know but I just felt like making it today. I promise it's just for today okay? You can make as much breakfast as you want after that." She smile causing me to smile and agree.

Breakfast was great as usual. The food was great and there was small talk here with constant teasing from ma about my tinny tiny crush Jason.

"So what do you want to do on Friday?" She asked.

"I'm okay with us just talking. It's been awhile since we had a one to one talk." I answered and added on,"plus I wanna know what's up with you and man bun."I wiggled my eyebrows and mom blushed.

"I uhm-" she stammered.

"I knew it! You like him too". That was all it took for ma's to turn full blown red. She then got up and tried to hide her face by starting to wash the dishes. I just gave her back a toothy grin.
