The start of the end

"We're here," Justin said
"How? Only a minute or two-" I blinked and saw that he'd already parked. Cars were lined up all over Reeve's driveway, in the grass and along the street. "Wow. We really are here." I must have lost track of time.
He'd survived. I'd survived. What a fantastic day! Being forewarned must be forearmed. And you know what? I could live with that. Literally.
We walked to the front door side by side. The moon was a mere sliver of gold now, the clouds gone and the sky dark though peppered with hundreds of pinpricked light. I was surprised when i noticed that Justin was scanning the bushes, cars and trees as we approached the porch. I was doing the same thing.
He missed a step, righted himself and snarled out, "Cole."
"What? Where?"
I found him a second later. Cole was on the porch, leaning against the brick wall beside the door, a beam of light raining over him. He popped his jaw when he spotted Justin.
He wouldn't meet my gaze, was to busy glaring at Justin. Had he been waiting for me?
"𝓽𝓱𝓲𝓼 is who you decided to come with?" Cole asked, his voice dripping with disgust.
"She knows a good guy when she sees one," Justin said stiffly. I laughed quickly. Justin looking over and smiling. Cole still not meeting my gaze.
"I need to talk to Ali. Alone."
"No way i'd ever leave her with you. You're not the kind of-"
Cole was in his face before Justin could finish that sentence.
"If you don't go inside, you'll be eating your teeth. You know I can make you do it. I have before."
"Enough!" I got between them and pushed them apart. Still Cole didn't meet my gaze. "Seriously, that's enough." Clearly these guys had some history, but come on. Ruining a party before it even begun was overkill.
"Why don't we let Ali pick?" Justin said with a smug inflection that had Cole gnashing his teeth with annoyance.
"Ali," Cole snapped. "I waited her for you for a reason. You can guess what it is."
"I-" might have a vision, I realized. This was the first time I'd seen Cole today.
Neither of us knew what would happen when our eyes met. I turn around to Justin.( word for word from the book)
"Ill meet you inside. But before you say anything, you know i wouldn't do this unless its important. I promise as soon as im done with him Ill come find you."
All he did was nod his head, I can tell I hurt him. But ill find him inside and fix it. He walked inside, leaving me alone with Cole- who grabbed me by the wrist and tugged me into the shadows.
"Do you have any idea what kinda snake that guy is?" he demanded, "are you working with him?"
"No!" I kept his gaze down, "I don't even know where he works."
He mumbled something like "Are you kidding me?" under his breath.
Ugh. Im so done with him right now.
"You know you don't control me right?"
He's gaze shot up at me, but not meeting my gaze
"What?"
"You don't control my life! So stop trying to! I don't know what happened between you and Justin, but keep me out of it. Let me have friends... Whatever i'll see you later." I get up to walk away, surprised by my sudden burst of confidence. Cole grabs my wrist
"Ali, Wait."
I don't even turn around, I shake him off and keep walking. This time he doesn't stop me.
two boys were staring at me as I walked inside. looking me up and down. huh. weird. I keep walking. Then girls look at me with disgust. What the heck? Whatever I need to find Justin. Eventually I found him. Sitting on the couch Alone.
"Hey, Sorry about all that. Just needed to get something out."
He looks up. Smiles at me. like he's surprised I actually tried to find him.
"You actually came back."
"Of Course! I said I would."
I sit down next to him. A split second later I look at the door and in comes Cole. He looks at me and this time accidentally meets my gaze. but this time there was no vision. what does that mean? I look back at Justin and start having a normal conversation. and then Justin gets up.
"I'll be right back.. but i don't wanna leave you alone.."
I smile.
"I'll go find Kat"
He nods and walks away. and seconds later before i can even get up. Kat comes walking in
"Soooo. How's it going with Justin!"
I get a good look at her, Wow is she pretty. Though she's a lot paler then she was on her "Fake sick day".
" Pretty great!"
"How's cole taking it?"
"I don't know. i shut him down when i got here."
"Good for you! Now let's go, i have a surprise!"
(this is where things change drastically, Ali never founds out about the rumor)
Kat drags me into the Kitchen. Reeve is standing there all happy smiles
"So, You and Justin huh?" Reeves says giggling
"We aren't dating. he's just a friend!"
"That'll change soon. I saw they way he was looking at you. and why wouldn't he, look at you! all dressed up!" Kat says
I laughed.
then all the sudden we hear a bang.
I look at Reeve, Her face is pale.
We run out of the kitchen to see a bunch of kids in a circle chanting "Fight! Fight!"
"100 bucks it's Justin and Cole"
What? no. they wouldn't.
but sure enough I make it to the center of the circle and there's Cole and Justin. I couldn't watch the fight but when it was over Justin was on the ground. I run up to him
"Justin! Justin!"
he wasn't responding, I turn to Cole
"What did you do?!"
He looks at me confused.
"You can't tell me your upset!"
i turn away from him. I couldn't believe him.
"Ali?"
I look at Justin, he's trying to get up.
"Shh, It's ok. I'm right here."
The girl that sits across us from the bus was there. Looking at me and almost smiling
"I got him from here, thank you."
Who is she? But before I can ask, something is grabbing my wrist and pulling me away. I don't struggle. i'm too confused.
" We need to talk"
it's cole. i know it from his voice. I want to say no. i wanna go after Justin. but the girl was already gone and i didn't have anywhere else to go so i let him carry me into a pantry.
"What?" I snapped
He looked at me, and that all he did for seconds it was completely silent.
"Why arent we having a vision?"
"You think i know?" Im still mad at cole, so
Im not gonna tell him my theroy. That we dont have a future.
"Look Ali, Im sorry."
"Whatever Cole its whatever."
"No, Its not whatever... I think it would be best if you stayed away from me.."
"What? Really?"
"Ali... Im afraid. I dont want you to get hurt."
"I can take care of myself, cole. But its fine. Ill leave."
I wont let him know the hurt hes caused me.
"I need to leave anyway. gotta check on the person you almost killed."
I turn around and walked away. Cole didn't try and stop me.
I stepped outside, hoping Justin and the girl hadn't left yet. I look around no sign of Justin. I look up out of habit and there it was, The rabbit was not only up in the sky it was pulcing. I stumble with my steps. Why is it beating like that? that's when I smell it. Rot. I look around. no one is here to help me. and there's no way i'm calling cole. I step towards the woods but I don't even make it halfway there before these people in Hazmat suits pop up.
"Are you Ali Bell?" one of the hazmat suits says
"Umm. Yea? Who are you?" A part of me is telling me to run but i stay put because i see his face
"Justin?"
"Ali! What are you doing out here! go inside!"
what? Justin can see the zombies too?
"No! i wanna help!"
"Fine then put on of these on and start collecting the zombies, they can't hurt you while your in the suit."
he throws me one of the hazmat suits and i put them on.
"Welcome to the team Ali. you choice the right side."
