completing basic training at camp lehigh , steve rogers is selected to receive the super soldier serum . after a successful procedure , doctor abraham erskine is assassinated by a german spy & the serum is lost making steve the only super soldier the united states army has .
nov . 12th , 1943
learning of the 107th divisions capture behind enemy lines by hydra , steve rogers dons a shield & embarks on his first mission as captain america effectively saving his friend bucky & his later team the howling commandos . here he met his foe , the red skull , for the first .

during a mission to capture dr . zola , hydra's top scientist , steve's best friend since childhood bucky barnes falls from a moving train in the alps seemingly to his death .

hydra's grand scheme to bomb the eastern seaboard of the united states is revealed & to prevent this fate steve rogers bravely flies the plane carrying the explosives into the icy waters of the atlantic & is presumed dead .

the wreckage of a world war two era plan is found & with it , the frozen body of captain america . miraculously , he is still alive , suspended in a state of hibernation . he awakes to a new world . seventy years have passed .
