Mai studies the ceiling, her imagination going wild as she watches the little knights on horses fight with their opposing army. She sighs and places her arms behind her head. Her concentration on the ceiling is interrupted as someone opens the door. "Mai! What's going on? Why are you here?" Hawk hurriedly questions her. He gives her a big hug and pulls himself off her when he realizes she can't breathe. Not that she minded. The best way to go would be his hugs. He hugged her so hard it felt like someone had repeatedly hit her with a baseball bat. "hey, what are you guys doing here?" she avoids his interrogation. "oh, we're just here to visit you." Hawk tells her. Apollo enters the room with teary eyes. He doesn't let the tears spill out of his eyes. Mai can tell he's seen something he probably shouldn't have. She then thought about what Bex had told her.
"what's wrong?" Bex hesitates. "well, I saw my sister on her death bed. According to the doctors she only has another two days left." Mai nods slowly and sorrowfully. She tries to speak again. "I'm... sorry..." her voice comes out raspy and strained. Bex places a hand on her chest, where her heart is. "I want to wish all of this away. I wish this wasn't happening to us. It hurts... It hurts. I don't know what to do anymore..." Mai could hear the pain in Bex's voice.
Mai opens her mouth to say something but closes it. She realizes she can't console him, just as she couldn't for Bex.
